The Stones warhorse your just tired of hearing

For me its "Start Me Up" which seems to make me cringe every time I hear it played.

It feels cheesey and bubble gummy. Sort of like the favorite of the masses but the one insiders despise.

For 2nds "IORR" is dated and worn out.

Judging from the last tour, the two ones that needs a rest is htw and satisfaction.

Honky Tonk Women.

Such a lazy version live, no passion, they only nailed this one very early on. The single has such a great spirit to it and is concise. Thank God they never tried to make a 9 minute version of it.

2000 light years, I'm free and Ruby Tuesday...ha...You mean tired of??

Start me up, SFTD and Satisfaction could use a little rest...

In concert, I would prefer the Stones delve into their great catalog and give us variety. On the radio, or wherever else, I can still enjoy them all, the soundtrack of my life.

This is also my choice.

They've never done it justice in the Vegas era. It was neat for the balloons in '89, but I no longer need to hear Jagger say (and I wrote 'say' instead of 'sing' deliberately) "It's the ho-waw-waw-waw-waw-waw-waw-waaaa-waaah-woonnnnnnnky tonk women" in no real particulal key or note. Easily the first warhorse to show major, major decay with age. Kill this one, guys - it didn't work 20 years ago!

The only official CD vegas-era version features top-notch butchering by Sheryl Crow... well, I would say it drives me nuts, but they've not really given much with this song anyways, so it's not as if it was really a wasted opportunity. I also thought the whole Chuck piano solo where Keith joined in to be a bit contrived as they carried over this little trick for 2 tours.

You got me rocking should have been long forgotten! Every time I hear it in concert, I get embarrassed and want to crawl into a hole. They actually think people like this song over Out of Tears or Suck on the Jugular. The song fits the album but Damn it, drop it from the set-list already!

Ya forgot about Miss You? They only play it every time as the band heads out to centre stage. Yeah, dump that one and Start Me Up. Bring back some danger - that's the key of what's missing. Some real dangerous rock'n'roll.

I'd have to go with HTW. The song has been on life-support in my book for a while. I wouldn't blink once if they took it out.

Angie and Wild Horses can then follow.

Wichita Lineman. Was OK as a single but the Stones played it to death on tour.

Jumping Jack Flash, Street Fighting Man, Sympathy For the Devil, Honky Tonk Woman, Brown Sugar and It's Only Rock & Roll can really be scraped off the list as far as i'm concerned. The first 5 they've played in almosst every show since Altamont, and IORR on almost every show since 1975. Instead of those i would love to see them play more of their 80's/90's hits (Undercover of the Night, Emotional Rescue, Love is Strong etc incl Start Me Up which is a very strong song and has never been played as much as the above mentioned). And ofcourse some real oldies that they have never played anymore since Brian's death would also be very welcome, songs like Lady Jane, Mother's Little Helper or Mona (I Need You Baby) or We Love You would be really great.

This thread begs the philosophical question...If a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound?

YCAGWYW should be included.

yes, it should...and it must...

as to the tree in the forest - how do we even know it fell down?

There are so many...and there are plenty of other war horse type songs they could play that they don't too.

"war horse type," eh? hmmm...horses that are capable of combat but haven't seen battle for whatever reason? hmmm...yeah...i like it. can't be battle-tested without getting out into the frontlines...this is war and we need every man, woman, child and horse...

Agreed...Out of Time or even MLH would be formidable "live" challenges.
