Per the advertisements and posts that I have been reading, I am happy beyond belief that ABKCO is going to release an expanded version of Ya Yas. Unfortunately, even though I would have liked a COMPLETE show, I am happy for what we are getting- great sounding, unreleased bonus tracks (that I will most likely compile into a complete 1969 show of my own to listen to with the original running order

Although I have always been a fan of the Ya Yas version of Rambler, I would have to say that Brussels is in a league all its own. That particular version is downright scary, and epic at that! I still can't believe after all these years of listening to Brussels that the Stones could sound that good! Sadly, even though they would have their moments of brilliance on subsequent tours, after this

I get a chuckle when I read some of these posts because it just goes to show you that music, just like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder...For instance, Doxa's quote that the Stones are sloppy and uninspired at the Rock and Roll circus but yet are "better and tighter" at Hyde Park...Sorry, I can't agree with that. Although there are a fair share of folks who think the Ston

Quotebassplayer617 Does anyone here seriously think that Mick gives a rats-as% about the legacy of recordings that have been bootlegged and released over and over again? He is a businessman, and not as filled with self-importance as some fans would like to believe. For example, look at the famous Charlie Rose interview from 2002. What did Mick prefer to discuss? His film career! This is a man

Although this was recorded early on in the tour and sounds a little ragged at times, this soundboard two CD set of Welcome to the Voodoo Lounge on Godfather (which contains the COMPLETE audio version of the professionally shot video souvenir sold at Stones shows) is pretty darn good. This two CD set has great sounding versions of tunes that were left off the video souvenir like Wild Horses (which

I have been trying to hunt down two titles. Can either trade or will buy an original or CDR copy of Got to be Worked ON (Rover label) & Through the Vaults Darkly (Godfather label). If anyone can help me out, contact me at ssigel@rochester.rr.com Thanks, Scott....

Very interesting that you should post this...I live in Rochester, New York and my wife's family live around this area (Clarence Center). PS-I've always wondered what other Stones fans who post on this site live in upstate/western New York...maybe we should all arrange to meet up at a central location for a Stones night?

Unless they truly do a 180 and surprise me, most likely the Stones will play the money-making same big arenas and/or stadiums with the additional back-ups, along with the obligatory warhorses... If that is the case, my ONLY request (along with opening up the vaults before I'm too old to appreciate it and/or dead) is play every show like it's your LAST show (your competitor Springsteen d

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 This song just has never worked live, period. It's a pity, because it is easily one of my allround favorite Stonescuts. Jagger can't settle on a melody approach. Since it is so low in the register he keeps jumping up into some note that fits in theory, but doesn't really sound greta. In the studio they just have him up in the mix with the low voice , whi

Quoteslew Has ther ever been a band that was better or more creative from 1968-72? Look at it they come back from pschedelia with Jumping Jack Flash, put out Beggar's Banquet, fire a founding member then deal with his death, replace him with a new hotshot guitarist who debuts to over 300,000 people at Hyde Park, release another great single in Honky Tonk Woman. Then they embark on the grea

QuoteGazza QuoteEleanor Rigby apologies if this is repeating previous threads, but i believe this performance is simply a masterpiece & the best the Stones have ever produced live with any song. Its an outstanding version for sure but if you fast forward your Brussels CD a little bit you'll soon find what is possibly the greatest live performance of any song in the history of rock

As a Rochesterian (which is approximately 60 miles from Buffalo) I have fond memories of seeing many great rock and roll shows at this auditorium. Often times, great artists like the Stones bi-passed the Rochester War Memorial which was too small a venue to accomodate them or other artists and these artists would opt to play the Buffalo Aud or nearby Toronto instead. The Stones played Buffalo twi

Aside from the heated debate on the Stones' touring prowess- on another matter- this writer was most impressed with UrbanSteel's post of the Baltimore & Boston shows from 69. I am a big fan of the '69 tour and had the Baltimore show on audio tape (I acquired this show many years ago-but not in the sound quality of these recent downloads). I am wondering how I would get an origi

The Who get my vote on this one...Even though Moon has been gone a long time, the playing & interaction of Entwistle, Townshend, and Ringo's kid (LOL) as seen on the later day performance gig at the Royal Albert Hall (recorded for DVD in 2000) is pretty amazing...

I love the '69 shows and the samples that I downloaded of Baltimore & Boston were awesome! I like them so much I am wondering where would I order originals of these on Dog & Cat? Any help would be appreciated. THanks, Scott.

I purchased the Giants Stadium VHS show from the merchandising section at the Syracuse Voodoo Lounge show that I attended in 12/94. Although the Stones were a little ragged around the edges at Giants Stadium as it was recorded 6 or 7 dates into the Voodoo Lounge tour, I actually prefer the performance of this pro-shot video rather than the pay-per-view Miami show recorded in 11/94. My only compla

I thought the medley of "Under My Thumb" into "I'm Free" at MSG '69 was awesome. They should have played it this way through the entire '69 tour. The slower version of "I'm Free" in the beginning of the tour (as featured on the bootleg Liver Than You'll Ever Be) doesn't do it for me...

I have seen this type of post before. I am a long time fan-having been lucky enough to have seen the Stones once-twice on every tour since my first show in Toronto in 1972 during the Mick Taylor years...The Bigger Bang tour was the first tour I CHOSE to miss because I just got sick of seeing the Las Vegas act that the boys have been peddling for 20 years now (however, I really did love the Steel

Boy, when I see video like that (even in the shape that it is in), it makes me angry that A: we may never see a COMPLETE show aka Madison Square Garden '69 on video ever commercially released and B: we may never hear a complete good quality audio of one of those shows released on CD (other than inferior audience boots). Sad, Sad, Sad....

Thanks to all for the recommendations! One of my favorite Neil CDs is the MTV Unplugged show from the early 1990's. I really like the tunes that were played. I know at one time it was released on VHS. I am assuming that this has never been officially released on DVD. Does anyone know if there is a good audio/video (DVD) boot of this show?

In addition to collecting Stones,Clapton,U2, Springsteen, etc on audio/video, I also like Neil Young but don't have anything concert-wise on DVD. For those who are into Neil, are there any recommendations for concerts/live material on DVD (either good quality boots or COMMERCIAL releases) worth acquiring?

Dick's Picks #34 is definitely a highlight. The Dead were playing pretty well for lots of shows in 1977. The Rochester, New York show of 11/5/77 is a standout. Ok, I may be biased because I was there and I was delighted when it was released on the Dick's Picks series. Even though I am biased, however, many fans and collectors consider that show to be a keeper worth acquiring. In my opin

I always thought that Steel Wheels got a bad rap (although I now prefer the recent collection of outtake/monitor mixes). From this fan's perspective, Steel Wheels has four great songs to recommend it: Mixed Emotions, Rock and a Hard Place, Slipping Away, and Almost Hear You Sigh which are stand out tunes that are just as good as anything found on the Stones' later efforts. I would rate

I'll just add my two cents here- I have been collecting Sister Morphine products over the last ten years and think that this is a great Stones dedicated label. Sure, a lot of their titles have been released before, but then again some of their re-masters have proven sonically superior to earlier shows that I had acquired. They are sensitive to customer needs and I have ALWAYS received titles

1972- I saw my first Stones concert in Toronto. Little did I know that that would be the ONLY show that I would ever see with Mick Taylor on board (my next show was three years later in 8/75 in Buffalo). I think I may have peed my pants seeing the Stones on stage in 1972. Unfortunately, that whole show was like a blur that went TOO fast! However, when I heard Midnight Rambler on stage for the fir
