QuoteSomeTorontoGirl Nice to see some good news - Marianne Faithfull reportedly released from hospital after 3 weeks. Marianne Faithfull was discharged from a London hospital Wednesday, more than three weeks after the singer tested positive for the coronavirus. “We are really happy to say that Marianne has been discharged from hospital today, 22 days after being admitted suffering from t

Streaming this now. That version of When The Whip Comes Down is a bit too - erm - Respectable isn't it? Hilarious but a pity because Whip live versions are normally excellent.

Listening via Amazon HD stream right now. Love In Vain sounds fantastic although Amazon have erroneously included a live version of Live With Me in the album for some reason. I'm pretty happy with my ca.1981 Decca vinyl and my mono CD from the box but might be persuaded to shell out for the single CD. Not bothered about the new box though.

QuoteSilver Dagger I don't recall the Stones ever doing a Rod/Faces cover. But Rod/Faces did cover Street Fighting Man, It's All Over Now and Love In Vain shamelessly. And they famously use to play Get Yer Ya Yas Out before they went on stage in 1970 to vibe themselves up. I believe the Stones also covered It's All Over Now as well though

In music there is a dividing line between Rock and Showbiz. Mick has just managed to keep the right side of the line while post-Faces Rod has been just on the wrong side.

I've streamed the live tracks now and like you I think they're pretty good. Nicely produced and less muddy than some other love releases. It's also good to hear some of the rarer life tracks. Even the duets are OK (Alright I haven't heard Ed's yet...) although I've never really heard a guest song that's better than a 100% Stones song. The other 2 CDs aren&

Apologies and please merge if this has been posted before. Looks like a "grey"/public domain release but I think this website is run by Universal. https://thesoundofvinyl.com/*/*/The-Rolling-Stones-Live-In-Melbourne-Paris-London/60TF0000000 Side One was recorded live at the Palais Theatre, Melbourne for Radio 3 UZ on February 24th 1966. I saw the BluRay on sale this weekend for £3. It was at a regular shop (Fopp) so presumably a grey import rather than a boot. Seemed to just have the songs from the truncated BBC broadcast (Miss You thru' to Satisfaction). Of course the full concert was up on YT in decent quality. May still be for all I know. Cover looked like this...

Listened for the first time on Spotify. Performances seem good (and an interesting set list) but it all sounds a bit too polite, in need of some edge. Not sure if it's the playing or the mix. Does anyone else feel the same, or maybe do I just need to turn up the volume a bit?

As with B2B the thread has inspired a re-listen. Overall sound is more Stonesy than B2B. More likely to listen to this one again. It's damn long though! Love is Strong Nice menace to this. You Got Me Rocking - in moderation anyway Sparks Will Fly for those lyrics. Redeemed by the energy so The Worst. Just OK New Faces. Harks back to the 60s pop era, but with less charm. Interes

Was inspired by this thread to listen to the album through again on a good hifi at a decent volume. Overall the sound is good (I got the CD when it came out), but somehow not quite a Stones sound. Some pretty good songs on here (e.g. Flip The Switch, Anybody Seen My Baby, You Don't Have To Mean It, Out Of Control, Saint Of Me, How Can I Stop) but quite a few which aren't so memora
