My commiserations. At having to listen to those two I mean, not about the working from home - which I highly recommend.

No, I accept full culpability. My early morning listening, or start the day listening, pre-work, pre-breakfast, is either hard-core Radio 4 news, or Petroc Trelawny on Radio 3 with a great choice of classical Breakfast music. Radio 2, with Chris Evans, is a bit like waking up and drinking coca cola first thing in the morning, so I don't do it - too much of a sugar rush. Six Music I settle for on a Sunday morning, but I am seriously looking forward to Lauren Laverne starting the breakfast on Six Music in 2018 I think.

I used to listen to Today years ago but no longer. JH is a parody of himself now and as for IDS, well forum rules preclude me from discussing politics...
R3 can be good but sooner or later on comes the opera and I have to switch over. Never listen to R2 but R6 Music isn't bad as you say. Good variety once they can get away from their narrow playlists. LL and others are very listenable and Iggy is fun when he's on. R5 is OK for news, but I find the football waffle tedious in the extreme. And I really like football.
So there's no perfect answer for radio while you work. I find myself streaming Spotify a lot now...
