So the reality as we stand today:
Less than 33,000 copies sold in the USA.
Just over 11,000 copies sold in England.
Keith continues to repeat the sames lines about putting the Winos back together.
A broken record.
Soon comes the silence.
I'm sad.
No Tour.
Turn a blind eyed Heart.

I've listened to this album more times in the last 2 weeks than I have ABB in the decade since it's release...
Me too

And it's only going to get worse. Second week sales will be at least 50% less. Best case scenario is that the album sells 100K in the US by the holidays.

The same for you:
All good reviews, good debut in many countries, # 2 on Amazon's charts, # 8 on Billboard's top albums sales, # 4 on Mediatraffic world charts.
Don't worry Lucas about a thing, 'cause every little thing gonna be alright!

That would be fine if it sold like that for a few weeks, but it won't. Albums like this peak the first week and then fall drastically the second and third weeks. It's already fallen to #68 on Amazon's Album Chart and #17 on the Rock albums chart. Slim chance that it will even make the top 20 on Billboards Top 200 album chart next week.

Bought the album the day it came out (along with the David Gilmour CD) and been listening to it since. Wanted to wait to post my 2 cents on it. I agree with someone else comment. The album is a grower and sounds better the more one listens to it (of course you can say that about virtually every album). The glaring thing is there really are no "classic" tracks that will be around for years to come. The album flows well and is basically consistently good, but no real "highs". I think Robbed Blind is the closest to a great great track, but hardly a classic. Nothing on the album approaches Take It So Hard, Locked Away, Wicked As it Seems and Hate It When you Leave (which I would designate as great classic tracks). Considering how long it took Keith to do this album, and the lack of original Stones material in the same time frame....can't help but believe Keith needs Mick to mold his riffs and fragments into great tracks....

So, Hairball, "Goodnight Irene" is less "classic" than the others, to you... (Lower case)

I can't believe the particular moaning, here... Folks, a Keith's album (NOT a Stones album, I'm sure you know the difference from a commercial point of view...) debuts at #4 of the Global Chart, selling 93,000 copies (in these days, sometimes 120,000 units are enough even for #1). And you say, what exactly? That the albums "fall drastically the second and third week"? Of course. So what?
We have the dubut so far. If you really believe that 93,000 (and #4 globally) is not a strong number, allow me to mention some other debuts done by famous and newer artists/bands, in the last weeks or week.
Ryan Adams 62,000
Stereophonics 55,000
Slayer 124,000
Gary Clark 35,000
Prince 16,000 (only!)
Motorhead 66,000
Bon Jovi 105,000
Joss Stone 31,000
Joe Satriani 25,000
Third Eye Blind 23,000
Neil Young & Promise Of The Real (Neil is younger than Keith...) 50,000
Etc, etc.
Ladies and gentlemen, that' the level of sales, today. And Keith's album has sold 93,000 copies... Maybe some of you don't like the album. Fine, after all it's a matter of taste. But don't try to underestimate it's success. That would be completely childish! Especially if we consider that CH sells much, much better than the previous two Keith's solo albums. (And know something? I believe CH deserves 100% this success, it' Keith's best album IMO).

I'd say Lover's Plea is this album's Hate It When You Leave. Nothing On Me has the same effect on me (greatness) as Wicked As It Seems.
There are more good ballads here than on TIC and MO.
Locked Away is beautiful, but hardly as musical and emotional as some of the ballads on CH, imo.

Bernard and Blondie sound really awful on the background on lover's plea they don't have the right heart. sorry to say

Anyone here who doesn't have a high opinion of Keith's previous albums but is impressed with this new one?
I've resisted the temptation to buy it so far...
I like the previous albums of Keith very much, but this one is much better.
Thanks to everyone who has responded to my question.
.
It does seem that I'm the only one here who was underwhelmed by Keith's previous "solo" work. With the exception of Hate It When You Leave and Make No Mistake which are great IMO there's very little else that doesn't leave me lukewarm if not cold. The CD is only £7.99 at HMV where I live but, on principal, I don't want to buy something I won't enjoy listening to.
