smileys with beer

Recipe for next Stones album...

Subtract the song list posted above.
Add Charlie, Mick, and Ronnie, (and maybe Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor on a song or two, or more)
Write new songs (Keith being the main architect).
Everything else stays the same give or take a bit of credit shuffling (RIP to those who are no longer with us).
Keep it simple.

Voilà. Bon appétit.

I don't think so...Mick's has his perfect home made demos to publish! Keef has to add two solo songs...as ever!

First of all make sure that Mick´s home demos are erased and there are no back up copies. Put Keith in charge and close the doors for ex-Stones. Let do Keith the production, he produced Crosseyed Heart, so he can produce a Stones-record as well.

Keith has probably produced every Stones record since Jimmy Miller left more than you know. Mick is very capable of writing new tunes too, a good song is a good song. Thinking Mick and Keith can (or have) done everything as collaborative partners in the studio is a bit short sighted and we might as well not tie their hands in any way. Bring the best ideas and demos you've got and go from there, imo.

Watching the Keith documentary last night I was trying to imagine him in the studio with the Stones and kind of realized we are never going to get a Stones record with the kind of energy, power and spark Keith contributed during his peak years. An introspective, roots based, mellow heartfelt approach is more Keith style these days, I hope Jagger can get there too. Mick and Keith are just so different these days...fingers crossed.

Was Larry Campbell the violin player on wingless angels too. ? or was that Frankie somebody. who is Larry Campbell. and why is it fiddle and then violin. its just a matter of how you play it. there is no physical difference. I love farfisa but I am not hearing any farfisa on those songs are you? and who is s][/s] doing the honky tonk piano on repeat on blues in the morning. annoying!! there is a need for Johnnie Johnson there or ian stewart. (or more likely they are dead and can't be there!!) maybe they couldn't edit that part because Bobby was on it too. (Christ there are a lot of dead people on this thing)!!

how did it sell? i think it should go top 2 or 3 pretty easily.

the music business doesnt really develop careers nowdays so you have hundreds of new artists putting records out, they make it or they're gone.

if keith does 100 thousand copies he's got a number 1.

I knew of Larry Campbell from Dylan's touring band, and that he played on Dylan's Love and Theft album (guitar, banjo, mandolin, violin), but never knew the rest of his extensive credentials.

High Five to Larry Campbell! thumbs up

you sure about that #11? that seems a little low for a superstar who spent his summer playing stadiums.

that would put him at only about 60-70,000 copies in todays market because the top 10 is littered with new artists who come and go in a flash.

legends with a huge fanbase do pretty good even in todays market,ac/dc for instance i think sold a million or so,i think keith will sell 100-200 thousand with this one easily.

that's a disaster-37000 copies is not anywhere near what keith deserves, this is a good record.

david gilmour sold double that and came in at #5-anyone that is not a floyd fan couldnt pick david gilmour out of a line-up,stones fans need to step up a little bit here.

i predict keiths record will build as it goes when more fans see he has a new disc out there,i think he'll buck the trend and sell more in the next few weeks.nowadays a record peaks at the beginning instead of picking up steam as people catch on,i see that happening here with crosseyed heart.

Actually, Keith sold 33,000 in the first week, vs. 70,000 for David Gilmour (and 12,000 for the best week of Main Offender). That's about right. Floyd have always outsold the Stones, though the margin here is quite wide. Seems a lot of people had inflationary expectations.... This was always going to be a cult release.

For what it's worth, I think Gilmour's total was buffered by giving away a cd for each concert ticket sold.
Not just one per order, but one for every ticket.
I ended up with nine, and I know some true die-hards that had at least twice that many.

@Hairball.

In that case Gilmour's people were smart. An album these days is merely part of an overall sales and marketing scheme, usually spearheaded by a tour.

Keith and Jane Rose needed to be more innovative than simply bundling the LP with some guitar picks and hoodies that won't reach their recipients for another month.

Just goes to show you the relative unimportance of the bombastic media coverage.

I think the media coverage swept KR to the sales he did get. Without it the record would have been unknown to almost everyone. There is no comparison with David Gilmour. He was the main vocalist and lead guitarist for an act that outsold virtually everyone. With no tour, Keith 's album is a side project.

People don't buy music anymore. That number from Keith is fairy impressive when you consider that Main Offender entered the charts at #99 and sold far fewer records in an era when people actually paid for/bought music.
