I've ordered my signed copy from Backstreets. You gotta love the Big Man.

He did indeed have tears rolling down his face during the last night of the Rising tour at Shea Stadium.

Same with last night of the Reunion tour at MSG too.

Ordered my signed copy yesterday as well.

Had the pleasure of meeting him, chatting to him for a few minutes and getting a pic with him in Dublin last year. Really is an incredibly nice guy. His wife was with him - she's Chinese and must be about 4'9. They make an unlikely looking couple, to put it mildly!

Clarence IS the E Street Band - its spirit, its icon. And, on most nights, its source of jawdropping "WOW!" moments. When he nails those pivotal solos of his, he really lifts a song.

October 17 / The Stone Pony / Asbury Park, NJ
Notes: "Well, I'm going down to the Pony tonight and I'll think I'll drink until I get my fill" was the lyric change in "Glory Days" as Bruce performed at a private fundraising benefit for his son's school on Saturday night. Despite it being his his weekend off between shows at the Spectrum in Philadelphia, Bruce brought his act to a much smaller venue for a nearly three-hour set in Asbury Park. Backed by Bobby Bandiera's band, Bruce also handed over lead vocal duties to Patti Scialfa and Southside Johnny for several songs each, before wrapping up the night with a solo acoustic version of "Thunder Road."

Setlist:
634-5789
Cadillac Ranch
Cover Me
Two Hearts
Spirit in the Night
It Takes Two (with Patti)
Rendezvous
Seven Nights to Rock
Sugar Sugar
Tell Him (Patti lead vocals)
Time is on My Side (Patti lead vocals)
Brilliant Disguise
Further on (Up the Road)
The Fever (Southside Johnny lead vocals)
Talk to Me (Southside Johnny lead vocals)
Dancing in the Dark
Waitin' on a Sunny Day
The Boy From New York City (Patti lead vocals)
Darlington County
From Small Things (Big Things One Day Come)
Man's Job
Pink Cadillac
Havin' a Party (Southside Johnny lead vocals)
Detroit Medley
Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out
Glory Days
Twist and Shout
Thunder Road

Signed copies of the Big Man's book at this time are not available. L.O. called Backtreets and efforts are underway to obtain additional signed copies. Regretfully, L.O. was too involved in Sports at the time and might have missed out on opportunity.

btw - It Takes Two (with Patti) & Rendezvous back to back is awesome.

Nice setlist. Thanks for posting. Whenever he plays My Love Will Not Let You Down, it brings back memories of seeing the run of reunion shows at Earls Court in 1999. That was the first song they played.

Plenty of times on the River tour including the first night I ever saw him (Wembley Arena 29.5.81 - first of 6 nights there). Quite a statement of intent to open a show with your best known song - and still to this day the best concert I've ever seen.

I'm assuming it's the Jackie DeShannon song (is there another?).
Has he ever played that before?

Also done by The Searchers.

Yeah it was a regular back in the mid 70s. Dont think hes played it since, though.

Most well known version would be the one from the Bottom Line broadcast in 1975.

Yes, and it's been done by everyone from Agnetha from ABBA to Pam Tillis
to Chris Hillman among others.
One of the best riffs ever and a truely great song.
BTW, there's a video up on YouTube of Bruce in Philly playig this.

'The price You Pay' is the song thats gone the longest of any songs from his albums without being performed.

Last time was at the Brighton Centre in England on 27.5.81. Jackie Wilsons 'Higher and Higher' was a barnstorming finale when he used to do it around 1977.

Couldnt see how he could have possibly topped the first 3 Philly shows, but I should have known better

IMHO Loose Ends is one of Bruce's all-time classics!

I saw him perform it in Manchester back in 2003 and it was simply astonishing!

The original intent of this thread was to keep Stones whom are also Bruce & ESB fans throughout the world informed of current tour information and share experiences from attended concerts. I guess it was too much to ask for. Trolls came on this thread badmouthing and bullying not only the ESB but the fans themseves and subsequently responses were forced. Again, this thread was not suppose to be a forum on ESB, just another great source of information that could be enjoyed by iorr members who like both groups.

League Office is disappointed.

Chris, unfortunately its always 'too much to ask for' for some if Stones fans are seen to also enjoy another commercially successful act for some reason. It never seems to be a problem if its an act who arent that well known or dont sell lots of tickets - it's a ludicrous form of penis envy. It also tends to piss certain people off if the act in question has opinions which dont fit in with their own world view. They wont admit this of course.

You're breaking the First Commandment - Thou Shalt Not Get Too Positive About A False God.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, Gazza, I've finally come to understand the root-cause of the whole Bon Jovi issue! LMFAO.

Just kidding, mate, I know we've discussed this several times, but I just couldn't resist when I saw this post of yours! winking smiley Hope all's well with you and yours - haven't talked to you in a long while.

Actually, I think Magic is the best one in years - much better than The Rising, IMHO.

Totally agreed. You can never go wrong with songs like Radio Nowhere, Girls In Their Summer Clothes and Last To Die.

And please remember that the best way to get rid of trolls is to simply ignore them.

I didn't like Magic when I first heard it. Thought a lot of it sounded throwaway, but the more I listened to it, the more I liked it. I actually prefer it to The Rising, which, conversely, I loved initially, and then gradually got bored with. Magic's a real grower, and a very dark album too.

Trolls ...? Got one in my garden.

Wish I could follow this, Nikolai, but to me, Magic STILL has a lot of throwaway on it, aside from Radio Nowhere and Girls in the Summer Clothes and one or two others, but The Rising I loved from day one, and it often teeters on toppling TOL from the top spot as my favorite Bruce album. I still listen to it constantly.....to the point that my wife (also a HUGE bruce fan) will often say, not The Rising again, isn't there something else that we can listen to?!?!!? LOL Now, WOAD is far better to me than Magic, but again, this is all just personal taste.

And it's funny because - well maybe not so much anymore but years ago for sure - it seemed that Bruce fans were 2 categories: Pre-BITU and Post-BITU, with many preferring the pre, 'blue collar' if you will, rock that launched him. To me, I think the best thing that ever happened to him was his divorce. His latter output far outweighs the earlier output IMO: TOL, HT/BD (I know there's filler on both of these, but they have some of his best songs too), Joad, The Rising, Seeger, and WOAD are all phenomenal, and the output there I think easily surpasses Asbury, The River, and Nebraska - I leave out BITU, as that's really the pivotal moment in his career......but again that's just my opinion...
