Douglas Marshall comes as close to providing a full explanation of the evolvment of 'Sympathy for the Devil' as anyone does - "Sympathy for the Devil" Mick Jagger's mad, erudite incantation strutted '60s rock toward the dark side of history. By Douglas Cruickshank The Stones have made plenty of mistakes over the years ("Their Satanic Majesties Request&

Black & Blue has many really good songs on it and so has Tattoo You and both albums appear to be under rated by Stones fans. Vastly inferior albums are Between the Buttons ( only Yesterdays Papers,Backstreet Girl & Miss Amanda Jones ),also HMRR's where only She's a Rainbow,2000 light years from Home & 2000 Man were worthy of release. The worst sounding album is Undercov

No further gigs in America or U.K. as they are already over exposed from staging concerts there in 2012 & 2013. With the |Stones demands at $5.0m per gig not being met they have already had to compromise and reduce their concert fee considerably. After the 15 gig European tour the only market that they can realistically target is South America.

Chuck Leavall assists the Rolling Stones ( Mick,Keith,Charlie & Ronnie )with the musical direction that their concerts should flow. He is an assistant the same way as Lisa,Bernard,Bobby and Daryl are and their contribution is fully appreciated by the Stones. They are employed and paid by the Stones to add their musical talents to Rolling Stones concerts. Mick Taylor was once a Stone and l

The Rolling Stones live plus special guests as an idea for a new album. This sounds like someone who has run out of ideas and is not interested in getting back in to the studio with the band and writing/playing and creating really good songs. If they go this route it will flop badly and the Stones reputation will be in tatters and I sincerely hope that the guys drop this idea.

Have voted for Silver Train but doubt that it will happen as the online song vote always appears to have been pre-determined when the Stones announce the winner. As they have been rehearsing Silver Train and the stones board votes for this song is high then perhaps it will be featured after all !

What a fascinating informative intellectual spread of ideas and opinions developed throughout this thread regarding the Stones album development from 1966 - 1981. As each album and many individual songs have now been analysed, dissected with so many different excellent ideas and opinions put forth we should now rest and put this one to bed. Well done to all participants in providing one of

Due to the Glimmer Twins feud in the early 80's which still continues to this day they do not want to sit in a studio and develop songs together to the standard that they created previously. Dirty Work/ER/Bridges to Babylon and Bigger Bang are representative of collectively not working together in the studio with the end result being extremely disappointing. However they did get togeth

When I first bought Goat Heads Soup on vinyl & as usual was in anticipation of hearing side 1 song 1 I was bitterly disappointed with DWMD as it did not rock or flow in the groove as a normal opening LP song by the Stones. Even to this day some 40 years later I skip DWMD but am happy to listen to the other songs on GHS. However there are some really good songs on this album and rate them

First live show that i attended was Glasgow 1966 and i have been totally hooked ever since on the Stones live concert experience. They have written so many fabulous Rock & Roll songs plus many endearing ballads - in fact there is a song in their catalogue for whatever mood you may be in. Last concert was 29/11/12 at the O2 London when along with my daughter i watched and listened in amazem

GRRR is likely to be a massive flop as the mast majority of songs are covered in Hot Rocks & 40 Licks which most fans already have. As 40 licks sold over 1.0m copies in the UK and Hot Rocks over 10.0m world wide there is unlikely to be any real sales interest in GRRR. The Stones are going thru the motions with the record deal they have with Universal to try and keep them happy.

Growing up in 1962/63 at High School all you heard about was how fab the Beatles were and no one else existed. I never really followed the crowd and liked to make up my own mind and the Beatles singing about She Loves Me and I Want to Hold your hand did not click with myself. First heard Come On and thought it was commercial sugar and I Wanna be Your Man had a bit of a kick to it but nothing sp

For 45 years the 'Stones' have toured and played but Time waits for no one and it wont wait for them. Age has caught up with them all, some more than others (i.e. Keith,Charlie) and that the motivation to hall themselves back on the road in their late 60's does not appeal to most of the guys. Their mind may say yes but their bodies are telling them a different story. Nothing is

For once the Daily Mail get it right as - 01/05/2010 11:34 AM Fran Curtis just confirmed for me that this is indeed the band's official statement as of now: '' Following recent UK media speculation, The Rolling Stones would like to make it clear, there are no plans at the moment for the band to tour in 2010.'' This official statement is suggestive that
