Longest span of #1 albums by a group in UK:
46 years, 1 month since April 30, 1964 (The Rolling Stones) to May 29, 2010 (Exile On Main Street).

Hat's off to the GREATEST ROCK AND ROLL BAND IN THE WORLD!

If someone had told you in 1964 that the Stones would have the #1 album in 2010 you would have thought they were nuts,

Unless it was a posthumous release.

Amazing achievement - even more amazing that it was a reissue of an album which wasnt even one of the biggest sellers to begin with.

First act ever to have number 1's in FIVE decades, I believe.

WONDERFUL!!!

Mick, remember your "condition" for forecoming projects? This needs to be enough for "making well", huh?

Doesn't the fact that "A Bigger Bang" was #1 on the Global Chart count for having a #1 in six decades? After all the Global Cahrt may not get the attention that the U.S. and U.K. charts get, but it may infact be the most important chart.

Now that the Stones officially have the #1 album in the U.K. it's time to turn our attention to the rest of the world.

It's looking like a #2 entry in the U.S.behind Glee which makes me want to hurt someone. Who the hell buys a "Glee" album?

Canada - The biggest retailer in the country has the Stones at the number one spot for the week which is a good indication that they may enter the chart at #1 in Canada.

How about the European and Global charts?

It is really a long time since I listened to an album that happened to be a number one in UK charts...tongue sticking out smiley

Now let us see what happens in US charts... was TATTOO YOU the last Stones album to have topped Bilboard (and also to have topped both UK and US charts)?

I feel athe urge to visit my local pub for a celebratory drink prior to watching the Exile documentary tonight.

Well done not only to the Stones but also to Universal.

I meant in the UK. I'm sure ABB was number 1 in some charts.

Bob Dylan had one last year!

Tattoo You didnt top the UK charts. The last two Stones number 1 albums in the Uk were Emotional Rescue and Voodoo Lounge.

The only Stones albums to have topped BOTH the UK and US charts were - Sticky Fingers, Exile, Goats head Soup and Emotional Rescue.
