A beautiful, elegant side. I've even grown to tolerate 'Waiting on a Friend', mostly for the god like sax solo. Maybe the last time the Stones seemed mysterious.

I know we get upset when Keith, Mick, or other Stones appear to be hypercritical of Brian, but they were there. They were all like one big f'd up family. And of course it's human nature for Mick, and especially Keith, to downplay their own failings. Within that family context it's probably hard to see the forest for the trees and give individuals their due. John Lennon & Harris

Look at Brian's white 'mod' belt. Ah, 1966. He also dressed better than Jagger, who was a bit more tame.

After the first ecstatic sprint across the empty field, and setting up as close to the stage as possible, this is how we spent the next 10- 12 hours. At first it's all about &#

QuoteMax'sKansasCity It has actually become somewhat amusing reading the local "experts" weigh judgement upon the various Rolling Stones albums, their various tours and various band line ups over time. It is amusing ( as in "for our entertainment" ) how some folks here are certain there was an exact instant when the Rolling Stones stopped "being".... HAHAHAHAAHH

QuoteDaveG I saw them at the Hollywood Bowl, July '66. (Of course, I've posted about this before). Opening acts were Buffalo Springfield (relatively unknown at the time, and who knew what they would become??), The Standells, and The McCoys (Hang on Sloopy). The Stones were dressed in the same clothes you see on the Got Live if You Want It album cover. Their setlist was very similar to t

I hope SuperHeavy knocks it out of the park, just to shut up those Stones fans who can only stand the guitar based 68-72 group. Give Mick a break. The few snippets I heard of Miracle Worker (not the remix) sound pretty interesting. But then I'm aware of Damian Marley and A.R.Rahman. The Stones have stopped using talented and varied sidemen and since Voodoo Lounge only seem to repeat sounds f

I'm beginning to envy fans who can listen to Stone's studio output post 1989. I tried to listen to Voodoo Lounge the other night and couldn't. Bridges, Bigger Bang, I can listen to 'Rough Justice' and that's about it. There's some songs from that period that still sound good live, but the last three studio albums have become dead to my ears.

It's probably all the stories about Brian being an a-hole with people that give credence to the conspiracies around his death. It's easy to visualize some working class guys hating him. But who knows? He might have been a sweetheart at the time and he simply had a downer or two in his system, a little red wine to boot, and voila, accidental drowning.

Man, I always thought of it as part of the great tapestry of sounds on the album. As a double album it's more coherent than The White Album. I don't think there's any song on Exile that I skip to the next track. It's lovely every couple years to put on a pair of good headsets and enjoy the whole thing all at once.

I remember George Harrison commenting that Beatlemania gave people the excuse to go crazy. There's an element of that at concerts that does make it a negative experience. I remember getting 8th row seats at a John Cougar concert in the mid-80s. I was looking forward to having such a great view. As Cougar took the stage two a-hole chicks in the FIFTH row jumped up on top of their seats and ob

Melody. That's what's been overlooked in this post. Bill was an extremely talented melodist. Dandelion, Satisfaction, Harlem Shuffle, this is a master at work. I remember Charlie being quoted as saying he never realized how good Bill was until he stopped playing and the whole bottom fell out of the band. Watched Hampton '81 and Bill is amazing. Then I watched Stones at the Max (

Remembering the actual time, the summer of 1971, was quite strange. Instead of reading it in the newspaper it was almost a passing item in Newsweek. And this quite a few days after his death. I could attribute it to a different time, but Brian's death was world news immediately. Very mysterious circumstances. I'm not inferring foul play with Morrison, but I don't think they reporte
