A most formidable impact on the Stones' music and image that has stretched for the past 60 years. Whatever the level of his talent or the excesses of his personality and behavior, Brian's imprint on the music of the band we love so much is profoundly deep. He did not write the songs, but like another gone-too-soon musician, Keith Moon, his effect on the work the band he played in was as

I know of only two rock musicians whose impacts on their bands were so huge that each band's sound changed completely when they left: Brian Jones and Keith Moon. That doesn't mean that they were musical geniuses; it just means that their contributions were so unique that the band simply couldn't (or wouldn't try to) replicate them.

Hey all, Not sure this is legit, but here is an alternate version of "19th Nervous Breakdown" featuring some tasty licks not on the final release. The Youtube commenters seem to think it's Brian playing the licks (lots of Brian Fanboys commenting on the video - which I can sometimes be), but I can't tell. Opinions? video:

Mark, First, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I witnessed my parents losing their child. It is devastating and contrary to the natural order of things. Thank you for reaching out to us. Sometimes we (or at least I) forget that we are all in this together in so many ways - even online. I love coming to this community because there are people all over the world I can connect with over so

Here's what I wrote about "We Love You" on an epic album-by-album thread on the Steve Hoffman Forum two years ago: For me, "We Love You" is the best thing that the Stones released in the 1960s, and because I think their best work occurred in that decade, it's the best thing they ever recorded. To these ears, it is easily the most powerful song they ever recorded.

His Majesty, I am having trouble figuring out how to access these files. Any simple link (even simpler than the one I am sure you are calling "simple enough already" when you read this request)

I find the music on "Satanic Majesties" to be as colorful as its groovy cover. No other Stones album conjures such a mood.

My single favorite Stones moment: Brian's mellotron solo at the end of "We Love You."

I bet that front-line, at-the-door security guys are not even 30 years old. I am an American high school teacher, and more than a few of my 17 year-old students couldn't pick out Mick Jagger - let alone Mick Taylor - in a line-up. In fact the ONLY one they would be able to recognize would be Mick - Keith, et. al are not even a blip on their radars. While we are surrounded by Stones fans o

QuoteJakeA Here is the best instrumental version i found, Taylor`s guitar is much better audible than in final version. Taylor plays on a left channel troughout the song ,starting from 00:5 IMO, This instrumental track just confirms something I have always thought: that despite its lyrical content, "Rock's Off" is the single most joyful music the Stones have ever commit

I was there. Great show. Even though I had promised myself that I would never - under any circumstance - "Whoo!~" during "Brown Sugar," I indeed succumbed. That is my main memory of the concert, in addition to the young woman I was with. I blame her for the "Whoo!" I figured my chances were better if I "Whooed" along with her.

My favorite Stone, who made my favorite contributions to their music. One of the saddest cases of "what might have been," but I am grateful for his art.

QuoteHis Majesty No harmonising from Brian on JJF, he's shown playing a very basic version of the riff and just bar chords during the chorus. Keith is in standard tuning for the whole set. Maybe the harmonising you hear is from Nicky's piano. Brian plays basic Chuck Berry rhythm on PW and it's audible, but mixed low, if I remember correctly it's placed more to the left
