I saw my first Rolling Stones concert in New Jersey at Giants Stadium(which has since been torn down). Anyone else there?

Funny, for me, my first Stones' concert was 8/15/94. Caught the Stones' virus that day

I was there. Great show. Even though I had promised myself that I would never - under any circumstance - "Whoo!~" during "Brown Sugar," I indeed succumbed. That is my main memory of the concert, in addition to the young woman I was with.

I blame her for the "Whoo!" I figured my chances were better if I "Whooed" along with her.

Coming from Germany it was the second time after Shea Stadium, NYC, 1989 , that I combined a holiday trip with a Stones concert in the US. What a thrill!! Bought in Germany the tickets via telephone and credit card, sending from NYC. Everything was going fantastic.
I remember a great version of Rocks Off and Ronnie playing great on Out of tears. But musically I enyoyed more the next day 8/15. A fantastic live version of Memory Motel. I was freaking out!! Till today one of the best versions I ever heard. Mick himself on keyboard (not just Chuck) and Keith singing so beautifully, blew me away. There was a nice boot around from that date: Circus is back in town (if I remember right).
And not to forget they played Brandnew Car! Just great!

As a european I was just wondering that so many people left their seats going for a pee or getting some beer when a) a new number was announced b) a ballad was announced or c) Keith was playing his set. But that was the US. So they played Memory Motel, a sensation at the time, I was in heaven and thousands of "fans" left their seats...confused smiley

Later on the european leg of the tour I realized that the intro includind Not Fade Away was much more effective in the Us. Why? The european dates started mostly at daylight. So you could see all the seats behind the stage. In the US it was dark. And these coloured flames which were burning in the sections behind the stage even during Not Fade Away are still in my memories.

Fantastic memories, unforgettable tripthumbs up

Tom

There were a few shows around the 15th, but I can't remember exact date and always wanted to find out. I remember it was pouring rain and the boys really tore it up. Unlike anything I've ever seen. Was there rain on the 15th or was it another day?

It was my third Stones show in two weeks. I also saw both DC shows. It rained a bit on the 14th.

The Stones stand at Giants Stadium was going on at the same time as Woodstock II. The Allman Brothers Band and Bob Dylan played excellent sets at Woodstock II on that day.

Also nearly 20 years ago, the MTV awards, including speech and
2 songs: Love Is Strong/Start Me Up.

During Start Me Up Jagger begins too early with the refrain
while Ronnie is still in the solo...but Ronnie repairs it quickly!

TooTough - did you stay in a hotel near to braodway and have you met a guy from Austria there?

Just curious - I remember that I spoke to a guy from Germany who left earlier than me, as I was also at the 15th show.
