THERIFF: wasn't The Move Jeff Lynne's band before starting ELO? I have never heard their recordings, but have been told they are much closer to the Stones then ELO (a good thing)

I also think Zep disbanded because they were unfortunately hit with a string of tragedies that had derailed touring for a few years...Robert Plant's son dying, then Bonham, plus the drugs and booze, plus some personal animosity's probably made breaking up pretty easy to do.

Hey Stonesfan70, there is some great American music out there this century...as well as a lot of crap, as there always has been. Look up what was on the charts alongside some of the Stones' releases in the 1960s and 70s... The best music made in any era is usually not found on the charts.

Too many bands live in the past. The Stones, to remain important, have to keep releasing great material and throwing in an occasional tour. ABB was a great CD...wish they had played more of it live. My 3 complaints with the Stones of now vs the 1970s are: 1. Ticket prices have gotten out way out of hand, alienating new fans and some old 2. They seem less likely to play newer material. In

Toronto in 2005 where they only played one show instead of the usual 2, was maybe 70% full. It's a great city, and the Stones love it...but an awful venue for sound. But I do agree that stadium shows are MUCH different than they were. Buffalo in 75, 78 and 81 had a stage way at one end, and fit about 80,000 for a concert. The stage now extends out to nearly midfield, meaning only sligh

When I head to TO for a show and want to catch a few beers beforehand, after we've parked the car, I go to Bier Garden, which is maybe a 2 block walk. Over 100 different beers, good 'pub' food. Inside the ACC there is a 'bar' setup, aside from concessions, with a local Toronto beer, but it, like most things in ACC, is pricey. Make sure you get there early to catch

Isn't Cohl the promoter? Unlike the 'old' days when local or regional promoters paid a guarantee (and usually a % of the gate or any profit) to the band, I believe the Stones now run their own show, at least in North America. I read that the got a guarantee for SARSstock in Toronto of $5,000,000 CA, for what was a nearly-free show (the best $16 US I have EVER spent). But that

Lickskeith: By any chance do you have access to the rest of that Toronto show from 2005? I was at it (my 12th Stones show) and my son's 2nd (his first was SARSstock...not bad 2 Stones shows by age 16). Anyway, I'd love to get a good recording of it for him as a souvenir. A great set by the Stones, with far more energy than SARSstock, and the opener Beck was excellent, too!

Thank you VERY MUCH for posting this GREAT show! Your generosity is truly appreciated! Think there will ever be another Stones show in Toronto? I've been to several Stones shows in that wonderful city...including the great show they played in Sept 06. I would LOVE the chance to see them again, in a city that they obviously love. Now if they could only figure out the acoustics of Th

Other than maybe on Black and Blue, they have not published much detail on who played what. The album sleeve (yes album....real vinyl) I am listening to has great detail on every instrument, overdub and channel. Wish this was available on every recording.

I have heard...and who knows whether it's true, that Mick Taylor's guitar is what we hear on the album track...not Ronnie. I saw them perform this in Buffalo in 1981 and it was very good. Not one of their more popular songs, but one of the gems of Tattoo You, along with Worried About You, whch came out of the basement on this tour.

What I can't understand is why artists/producers don't get permission to use the samples before releasing the song. It's usually a simple process to purchase the use of any copyrighted material. It's aso very easy to get sued, and lose, by using material without permission.

Great setlist! Actually supporting the new record! How novel! Are Mick and Keith ever going to do that again?

Buffalo got TOP in 1981, near the beginning of that tour, and it was great. Unfortunately, it went back into the closet to gather dust. Is it better to see them at the beginning of the tour, where you seem to have a better chance at seeing a nugget, or later n the tour, where the band is tighter, but with a more stale setlist?

They are still a good band, when they want to be. As for not mixing o the setist in 1972....the setlist then contained all sorts of 'new' music for them at the time, rather than living off of past hits. It didn't change much, show to show, but it was a lot of NEW, great music. With this ABB tour, they kind of forgot they put an album out called ABB. Play more than 2 or 3 songs

Hold onto you hat? I'll disagree on that one...great rocker. Just Want To See His Face sounds like an outtake, but it fts on the album...especially when it was an ALBUM, that was y favorite side of the 4. I forgot about Suck on the Jugular and Summer Romance. This thread did get me thinking. Without a doubt, as a percentage of the whole catalog, the Stones have few dogs, compared to

Indian Girl, Gomper, Out of Tears (easily the worst single) are all bad songs. Plenty of forgettable songs too....but, as a percentage of the catalog, the number of bad songs is miniscule.

I would LOVE to hear this show! I have seen the band in Toronto several times, along with Buffalo and Syracuse. I have hoped, obviously wrongly, that they would return to Toronto on this leg of the tour.

Ian Gillan just released a CD that is a bit different. He does updated versons of some of his varous work over the years, including some Deep Purple and solo stuff, but with more modern production and various guests playing different parts. I believe it is called 'Gillan's Inn'. The guy has a great voice.

I have only done the conversion on a MAC, using Toast. Basically running audio out of my amplifier into my MAC. Start the turntable and the program digitizes the sound. There are filters to tweak the sound, which some vinyl needs to keep it from sounding too flat. There are also filters for reducing hiss and cracks. You then end up with an AIFF file, which can be reduced to MP3. I think

If you have access to a MAC, you can simply set it to not have a gap between tracks. If you use Toast (again on a MAC), it gives you the opton of picking the space between tracks to be anything you want....from nothing to several seconds. I have zero idea what Nero is, but good luck! Having gaps between songs on a live recording can suck!

I'm not a fan of bringing anyone onstage. But she sure beats Justin Timberlake, who came onstage at SARSfest. They also brought out Angus from AC/DC at SARSfest, who fit in...except that his live playing made me realize how far Keith and Ronnie have slacked-off. I'm not an AC/DC fan, but they blew the Stones away.....and specifically Keith and Ronnie away....

I was a huge U2 fan in the very early 80s, then got bored with them. Got ore interested in the late 80s, then was totally turned off by crap like Zooropa and POP. Got back into them with the last couple of records. Saw them live for the first time in years on the Elevation Tour. Frankly, the Stones sound embarrassingly bad next to these guys, at this point. I have not seen the Stones play w

Performers get sick. Especially in the cold Autumn, when you're over 60, and pushing too hard. The band, if they continue with this Spinal Tap-like tour should do fewer dates, with more space in-between. Of course, that would mean less millions for them. If they scaled back the 'spectacle' and played indoor arenas, at $100 0r $125 a ticket, with a normal light show, they

Sad that they may be going out of America with a whimper instead of a bang (or bigger bang). They are playing the wrong sized arenas, at the wrong pricing, with too many shows, too close together...not to mention it's a tough time of year to stay healthy if you're 30 let alone 60+. I hope the drop Cohl, give up the greed, charge reasonal ticket prices for all the seats, and play ven

The Police with XTC in Rochester, NY 1978. The opener of their US Tour. Roxanne had started to become a hit. They got held up at the border and never made it to the show, which was in a 400 seat college cafeteria. The tour opened the next night in Buffalo, I believe. The Pretenders in Rochester in October 1981. Their drummer, Martin Chambers decided to fight a piece of glass or a wall or
