I went to Toronto to see the band last Fall, hoping to see some new/rare stuff, as reports from the rehearsals were promising. The best songs they played were the new ones and a cover (Night Time). She's So Cold was at least a different song to throw into the set (even though it's far from their best work). Seeing as the set list has changed little in the last 11 months I am figuri

I think Europe is definitely getting screwed. It's all about the money for the band. They're on coast to retirement. They can make a LOT more playing stadiums in the states. On the other hand, they may not...a lot of the places they are playing in the US have seen a lot of the Stones in recent years. They may not sell out.

I had a password to buy tix in the advance sale last week, thanks to a post on another forum....but after seeing that the sat list is still, well, boring, I can't see making the investment. I hope they prove me wrong and mix it up when they get over here....but I don't think the band gets it. The only show I would page big dollars for is the Beacon Theater in NYC, as it will be very i

Mick and a band of robot replacements? Can they program a robot to repeatedly hack solos differently every night?

I worry about the Stones legacy if they keep just going thru the motions on tours.....I will not pay to see them mail in another show, with a boring setlist, and Ronnie and Keith playing with zero passion or grit. Some blues bands get better with age, and can still be exciting. I'm going to see Buddy Guy tomorrow, and he still rocks, and plays with passion. Keith and Ronnie lost that

The webcasts were great. Especially for those in markets where the band will not be performing. Though I plan on travelling to see them on this tour. I considered travelling to see the Stones somewhere in North America, since they do not seem to be playing anywhere close to Buffalo or Toronto...but after hearing and seeing them go thru the motions in Europe....there is no way I'll sink

Thank you Juan! I agree: one of the great live bands! Saw them on their 3rd tour, and again on their last two tours. Like the Stones, they do not play with the same sort of energy, and passion as they did in their prime (this recording is REM near their prime). Unlike the Stones, I have yet to see a show where REM has mailed it in. They still do great, honest live shows (even though the s

Help me with the history on this: why was Mick Taylor playing with them? I had read that during the '81 tour Mick was ready to sack Woody a few times. Was this one of them, or a random happening?

You may be right Menace. I am sure that Mick and the band's management have looked at it that way for the last 20 years. In 75 and 78 they still played some gigs that didn't revolve around how many people they could pack into a stadium...and tix were still halfway reasonable.

I would have loved to have been at either of the 1975 shows, but at 15 years of age, my conservative parents thought I was too young. I had to wait till 16 for my first concert....and it was a huge step down from the Stones: Elton John......zzzzzzzzzz I just hope the boys extend the tour back to North America, and play a few cities they missed last time, like Buffalo.

I am trying to track down a soundboard or very good audience recording of our boys show at the Rogers Center in Toronto. I was there, and it was a good show...not so much for the song selection, but a few sterling performances. Anyone have a copy? Thanks.

I have some old stuff, but not Superman, yet. I have a friend who is an REM collector. I will find it for you. It's the least I can do after all the great boots you have posted. Give me a couple of days.

Thanks for the info! I will check it out! I'd love to hear if they still have 'it'. I saw them last on their Quadrophenia anniversary tour and they were better than they had been in the 80s. I am in the process of converting a tape of Quadrophenia live (with Billy Idol and Gary Criminal Glitter) to digital. I just have to break up the tracks and piece 5:15 together.

There were 2 Buffalo shows in 1975. They played in the Memorial Auditorium (about 16,000 seats) early in the tour and by all accounts was a great show for both the audience and band. The Stones liked the experience enough that they did the American tour closing show in Buffalo...but at 80,000 seat Rich stadium. By all accounts this was a sloppier show, with some weird moments....with lots of p

I'm new to this site, but am stunned at the generosity of people like Vancouver, cafaro and others who routinely post music or answer questions. Much nicer crowd than other sites...and obviously true fans of the band, along with some amazing collectors. I think, from my few days on it, what makes this site different is the openness and sharing. Thanks to all those who have posted. I have z
