Check the tour as a whole. Different gigs, different songs. Including several with the 'extended opera'....whatever that may be, as I have not heard it, yet. The album/cd is not even released yet and they are trying new songs live. I'm sure it turns off part of the crowd, but the band believes enough in the music to try it live.

Zee: J Geils and Duke Robillard together had to be cool. Two different styles, but 2 guys who can play the guitar, AND entertain. Wish I could have caught that,

Oh, I love the band. I just think they are capable of doing better than they are with this tour. That's my frustration with them. I guess I have to lower my expectations to them just being a loose, fun, partying greatest hits machine than what some of the great work on their records (including AB suggest that they could be.

Stonesriff: They played several shows in Europe thru the Summer, and were laying new material even though the CD is still a couple of months from release. And the song they played in Europe is actually a mini-opera. My complain with the Stones on this tour is that they should be plaing MUCH more of ABB on something called the ABB Tour. It's a great record. They should try playing mor

Not retire, but maybe re-tool. Crowds love them on the B-stage. It is the highlight of most shows. Maybe the band should learn from it. Strip down the spectacle, the production, play great music frmo more of their catalog...including supporting the newer work, lower the ticket prices and play outside the 'normal' markets (see Louisville, Regina for examples) and people will come.

I saw Sheryl Crow a week ago. She was very good. Lacking a bit of energy on some songs, but still quite good. Oddly, she was opeing for John Mayer...and most of the crowd was there to see him. Living in Buffalo, we miss a lot of bigger tours. The Who, Stones and Chili Peppers all passed us by this time around, unfortunately. Luckily Toronto is 90 minutes away, so I can catch my own Canadi

I agree with you, Dan. And the shows are a spectacle. I just have seen enough of it at huge prices....$22.50 in Boston sounds like a more reasonable amount for the spectacle show than the $160 I paid in Toronto last September.

Doesn't top the Stones....just glad that the Who will actually PLAY new music. I love the Stones...enough to want to hear them play more than 2 or 3 new songs live. One of the pleasures of seeing Bowie twice on his last tour was seeing 2 different sets lists...both loaded with great, well-performed non-hits, and loads of new stuff. The Stones need to trust that their fans might actually

Peter Wolf was wild live. His different every night intros were amazing. The band should have recored all their records live. No producer could make them sound better in a studio. I agree with Cindy...I saw them 5 times, from mid-70s on, and the Freeze Frame Tour was possibly their best. Their 'reunion' tour was a bust, from what I understand. Several gigs were played to small a

And unlike the Stones, teh Who are actually playing their new music at concerts, instead of relying solely on warhorses.

I brought up blues as an example of what they COULD do. I've seen the Stones numerous times from 1978, 1981 (twice), twice in late 80s, twice in mid 90s, twice in 97, etc..all the way up to once on ABB. Going out and cranking thru warhorses, with botched leads by Ronnie, and passionless playing by Keith doesn't do a lot for people that have seen them a few times already. If you a

The Stones have stopped being brillant 'artists' and are pop stars. Artists care about their music, how it sounds, and want an intimate exchange with their fans. They play smaller venues to accomplish that. The Stones arguably have never cared to do that. One or 2 small theatre gigs a tour does not count. If they wanted to be 'artists' they'd do a 3,000 seat theatre

Great tune: Apolitical Blues. It was on the vinyl of Little Feat's Waiting for Columbus release (a fantastic live record) but left off the CD (so it would all fit on one CD).

One of the best live albums ever from one of the best live bands ever. Plus a bunch of great guy, who I had the pleasure of meeting in 1982. They put out another great live album of the 1982 tour. A band I'd love to see again! First I look at the Purse, Homework, Hard Drivin Man, Whammer Jammer

I agree with R and Woody. I took my son to SARSstock: he was the AC/DC fan, and I was a Stones fanatic who didn't like much by AC/DC. AC/DC was the FAR superior live band, which totally surprised me. The Stones could learn a bit from them, in how to play hard, interact with the audience, and how to play rhythm and leads with true intensity. I would actually pay to see AC/DC again.

Worst warhorse live is 'Satisfaction'. I have never seen Keith play it with any real conviction. They murder that song. Second on the list is 'It's Only Rock and Roll'. It's not one of my favorites to begin with, but it is terrible live. It's not a huge warhorse...I think it only came back into sets in the late 80s...but it sucks live. Other live songs

Things sold as 'live' recordings should be 100% live. The more I read about YaYa's, and the more I listen to boots of those shows, it is apparant that YaYa's had a lot of overdubs. Great record to listen to (it's what got me into the Stones as a 10 year old) but not totally live. (In the Stones defense, most other 'live' releases of that era were 100% live).

I was lucky enough to see the Clash open for the Who in 1982. They were great...still very edgy, and played with an energy that carried threw the crowd of 82,000+. Though I love the Who, the Clash were the MUCH better band that day. I saw the Clash, again, post-Jones and they were OK. I also got to see Jones with Big Audio Dynamite, which was good at times, but generally a disorganized mes

At Stones shows it is Miss You. I loved Some Girls in 1978. Now it's only a call for a beer and bathroom break. Right behind it are JJF and Brown Sugar...but generally played to early or too late for a beer break. IORR is just terrible live anytime after maybe 1989. On the radio, it's definitely, Every Breath You Take. I also crack uo when it's played as a 'romantic

The Stones are a Vegas act, playing the MGM Grand. It doesn't get any more Vegas than that. I'm sure the Beacon shows will have a charity that is benefiting, and that's cool. And maybe, just maybe, this is the Stones' way of being anti-Bush, anti-Cheney, which we know they are. I applaud them for it. The Stones have done some great political songs....what makes this

I'll post the entire show later today. How is the band without Entwistle? I'm debating whether or not to travel to see them on this tour. I hear they have a new CD coming out, and are actually going to play new material, unlike the Stones are doing (which is too bad because ABB is a decent CD).

Yes, I know it's a Stones forum. But I have benefited from everyone's generosity on here and been able to check out some great (and not so great) bootlegs of the Stones. I'm new to posting so I hope this works, but here is The Real Me by the Who, live from Madison Square Garden in NY. I could post the rest of this mid 90s Quadrophenia show if there is any interest. Canadians love Brian Adams for some weird reason....other than that, it's a great country populated by smart, open and hospitable people. I hope the Stones will wake up and head back to Toronto for a gig on this leg of the tour. The city has always supported them. I'd much rather head to Toronto than NYC for a show. By the way, my favorite Stones driving song is: All Down the L

Easily Entwhistle...he could carry the Who even on off nights with Kenny Jones on drums. Flea is earning a close second. He has funk, but Entwislte was a technical master. Chis Squire from Yes was amazing. Not sure if he is even around anymore. Bill was, and is, boring.
