Dunno about that. They certainly did record some very similar shouty rants at that time. On this one, before he bellows the title line,Jagger appears to shout 'Bad Sailor' several times. Is it really a song about a below-par seaman, or can anyone decipher it?

A 60th anniversary release of unreleased material would make sense to me but most (not all, but most) of the 'fully finished' outtakes are NOT fully finished. They needed editing (e.g. 'Dogshit' - which also needs a proper title) and they need a focused vocal with proper lyrics. We, my fellow anoraks, may be acclimatised to Jagger's 'vowel movements' but ordi

I like his focus on the music. So many album reviews I read these days seem to talk about the lyrics and little else. However I'm astounded to see BTB mentioned in them same breath as Blonde on Blonde. Its nowhere near as good. Jon Landau's judgement has always been questionable. After all, this is the guy who let Bruce put out 'Human Touch'

I think the studio version is an under achiever. Like much of ER it sounds a little sterile; the guitars are tentative when they might have been bold. When the guitars clashed discordantly during SSC at Sheffield in 06 my wife gave me a pained look.’Yep’ I nodded ‘it was like this in Glasgow’ Luckily it started to rain. Keef responded to the soaking like a parched pot plant (come to think of it

I think 'Luxury' is probably a good example of what she means by 'aural blackface' though: 'Mi datta nidda noo dress' is pretty embarrassing...

Remember how it was slagged off when it came out? Melody Maker titled its review: 'Sometimes you can't even get what you need'.

This crass cash-in is embarrassing. Must have taken 5 minutes to design. No respect for the fans , and less respect for the legacy of a once great band. Pathetic.

Living in the Heart of Love. Hmm.There's a difference between inspiration and perspiration. LITHOL always sounded like the latter to me, which is why it remained unreleased IMHO.

Elmo, I'm right there with you. I was 14 in '76, and the Black and Blue album was my way in to the Stones. Two years later I'd see Springsteen do 'Rosalita' on the Whistle Test and so began my other lifelong musical passion.Great days...

It’s ok. But what does this tell us about the Stones album? Is it finished, or did they hit another wall, or what?

Thank you KRifffhard, Yes that's the version of 'Lies' I meant. Better quality than I'd heard before According to Barbara Charone's biography of Keith, Ian Stewart walked out of the studio in Paris around this time, complaining 'They sound like bloody Status Quo'. I wonder if this track was the one that sent him over the edge?

I've stood up for Dirty Work over and over here, so i won't waste time trying to persuade those who don't get it. Instead I'll mention my one gripe, and that's the drumming. 'One Hit' as 'Gotdablouse' described above starts thrillingly but then the drumming is pedestrian, almost lifeless. I believe Charlie was out of sorts and so various drummers sat i

When the next set of 'Fully Finished' what five outtakes are you hoping to hear? My wish list: Misty Roads Hillside Blues (the 11 minute version) The punk version of 'Lies' (i.e. before they toned down the guitars) Come on Sugar For Your Precious Love -in pristine sound

I've said it before. Replace Hold back with Deep Love and Too Rude with Strictly Memphis and you have' a really solid album. I cannot understand how so many contributors here slag it and praise Undercover which was a phoned-in mess, packed with insipid filler like 'Too Tough' with its pallid guitars and by-numbers arrangement and 'All the Way Down' which the Faces wo

This has been bugging me: Listening to 'You'd Better Stop That', in the first half of the track, I hear Jagger several times bellowing something that sounds like 'Bad sailor!' I would love to believe that the Stones wrote and recorded a tune about an incompetent seafarer, but the chances are slim, so assuming it's not 'Bad sailor' can anyone tell what

Copacobana underrated? It was a much better show than Zilker Park or Havana. you can see right from the start that the size of the event has got Jagger fully engaged. That's a terrific JJF and Rambler is marvellous too.

I know what you mean about the disparate nature of that list. I've added 9 songs to LIAGT, to be a 10 track 'new album', until we get the real one. It's designed to flow a little better: Living in a Ghost T>own Nobody's perfect Troubles's a Coming Cant Find Love Dream About Sanctuary Ivy league Keep it Cool Desperate Man Prairie Love

I've seen Lofgren meany times and met very briefly after shows more than once. His shows with a full band are extraordinary. I don't think he'd be a good fit with the Stones because he's a gentle guy who speaks constantly about love, peace, self belief etc. I think the old boys from Dartford are a tad more cynical. One brilliant guitarist and perfectly suited to the E Stre

I'm hoping the next set of CD's will include 'Had it With You' with the bass guitar restored. As for Eliza, I'm puzzled by the word hideous. When I listen to Eliza, my feet start tapping and a big smile spreads across my face. Sure it could be improved by a finished, properly sung lyric but... that moment when Jagger shouts 'Woohoo' three times is just great
