That's cool--except Fingerprint File is on It's Only Rock n Roll. I love all 3 of those songs--but, like yourself, rank Hey Negrita, the highest.

It's unfortunate, Landover, to say the least. it is this refusal to look back that keeps all this GREAT stuff in the vault and releasing a "Rarities" that ain't all that rare (some of the choices are downright bizarre) and, worse, shamefully crops out an original member of the band. Very unfortunate.

Well put. It's all about marketing, not "living in the past", which is fine on one hand but when you start denying greatness.....well, it's just that, denial.

Erik--the '75 Stones shows in LA were taped by the late, great Mike Millard who is legendary in bootleg circles---he used to have a Nak deck affixed to the bottom of a wheel chair. His Zeppelin shows are AMAZING. Page used some of his boots on the "Easter Eggs" of Led Zeppelin DVD. A Hall of Fame bootlegger.

Very true. The thing is Charlie gets all his well deserved accolades, Bill Wyman is treated as a replaceable part--including some members of his band (Mick, in particular made some very dopey comments) when time has proven that not to be the case.

Yeah, I had read that--was unaware and then went and saw him in that turtle neck and funny colored sweater and cracked up. And, they really should have filmed everything--would have been great to see/hear those two songs.

I agree--Mick makes it cool w/o going over the top. And, as noted by Gazza earlier today, Mick Taylor plays great bass on this song.

I thought it was Klein who said to Mick, "The Who stole your show". I thought the Stones performance was good, especially considering they had been off the road longer then at any point in their career. The Who, were about as tight as a band can be---their performance smoked. But then again, they had just completed a tour.

Does anyone think there has been a President in the Post WWII era who has not taped. JFK and his brother tapped all of Martin Luther King's phones (w/o a warrant, of course). LBJ taped conversations he was having in the freakin bathroom. Nixon's taping expoloits are legandary and ultimately brought down his Presidency. Clinton circumvented the FISA courts by running his taping program o

My guess is that security at the Beacon was pretty tight. I am finding it harder and harder to listen to anything post '82 and DEFINITELY nothing from this tour. Some of the shows are borderline embarrassing. And before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, yes I went to this tour and yes I had a great time. As for bootleg sounds---I much prefer a SB with the audience present. Audience

I heard Essen once, a while back and thought it was pretty good also. I did recently hear one of the Beacon shows and, honestly, I thought...it sucked. I am not sure if it was solely the performance or not, but jeez, Marty has his work cut out for him, maybe he can make chicken salad......suppose we will soon find out.

Menace, if you read up a little further, Mathijs already explained how the process works. Just a Phaser? I have not listened to Still Life in a while (only '81 I own...presently) but I seem to remember hearing what sure sounded like a chorus on some songs and possibly a delay. I also thought Ronnie's playing was considerably better in '78, though my sample size of '81 is

Fair point Gazza, forgot about Fingerprint File. I thought it was a bit of a rhetorical question myself. While the comparisons to players whose main instrument is guitar is not necessarily fair, it is certainly fair game to point out how superior he is to Daryl and how the band no longer grooves the way it once did---one of the real trademarks of the band's sound and what separated
