Ok, except I do not believe there is any correlation between the EIGHT (!) support players they have and the tickets prices---that's all.

I for one, am not paying what I paid the last several tours so I can see Blondie, Lisa et al--in fact I go in spite of their presence........ Ticket prices also have a supply and demand componet. The Stones show from '89 to the present has not gotten that much bigger in terms of supporting players but the ticket prices have increased expotentially--which is kind of difficult to reconci

Wow--sounds like they are feeling their oats--lol Notwithstanding the anticipated outrage that will, undoubtedly follow in this thread, if you are honest, everything they said is true. I thought the Grammy performance smoked and I did not detect anything like that.

Ok, thanks. I knew the Stones weren't on it and I have seen the same story concerning the demos. It's a cool little solo in Out Of Time. Yeah, if that was recorded in Nov of '68, that knocks out Page as a possiblity, he was about 6 weeks into putting a little band together...... The slide, which I think is really excellent sounds like Ry Cooder, if that is Steve Winwod,

Interesting point re U2. Agree with everything you wrote in that post. My parents are the same age as Mick and Keith, part of the reason I cringe everytime I see someone refer to them as "boys". Yikes.

There is a short, but pretty cool, acoustic guitar solo in the middle of this. Anyone know who it is? I am pretty sure Mick was the only Stone involved in this version and it does not sound like Keith.

Just listened to the 2 versions of Memo From Turner; the Metamorhosis version and the one from Singles; the beauty of an iPod... Anyway, I like them both; but, I recall reading that Ry Cooder is on one (maybe both?) and that one has Jimmy Page.... The Metamorphosis version, to me, has got to be the one with Page--I would think, judging by the guitar playing.

Gazza--I agree with that is what they "should" do, but, for whatever reason, and it's a mystery to me, they don't. One would think that some like Mick who can be, from all accounts, very hands on, would take more of an interest, but clearly he doesn't--would seem that his apathy is the result of either not caring about the "past" or can't be bothered bec

It is worth it for: Jiving Sister Fanny I Don't Know Why Going Down Family Downtown Suzie Memo From Turner--think it is the only official release--I like the boot better, but this is ok, too. Plus it is in SACD.

I also agree with that---think you have the dates exactly right. Of course, I was too young for any of those tours..... Thank God for boots!

Fair point, but it was not the same Rolling Stones. The cropping out of Bill was pretty low rent and kind of shameful. Otherwise, I love that picture, which ,I think is from the Respectable video. Ronnie's cream colored strat with the rosewood neck is a thing of beauty.

Recently, I read Flippo's book (very good by the way) and he mentions that they were pretty displeased with it being released and did NOT want people to buy it. There was a comment that Bill had put together the "Black Box" collection and Klein ignored it. It was also being released on the eve of the '75 Tour and they were not thrilled about that either. That is my recol

That is a GREAT idea--could not agree more. Unfortunately, given their record-contract status, (or lack thereof) do not see how this will happen any time soon.

Ok--I admit it....I have grown to LOVE this version--like, a lot. Play it ALL the time, becoming one of my all-time favorite versions--if cranked on a good system, it is sublime... Where does it come from? Both the initial "rehearsal" part and the "live" part that follows it--if this has already been covered, I apologize, especially to Gazza, who I believe answered this a w

Good call, Wrong--checked it out, they played there July 5, 1972. So, I take it they were recording that show and something happened or they didn't record that show.
