I'd pay those prices for a short club gig, but definetely not for a seat in the skies on top a reverberating dome. Boycott!

QuoteGravityBoy Here's my theory. Their set was cut by 15 minutes but they knew in advance. So when the clock at the back showed "2 MINUTES" Billy Joe stopped what they were playing (how many times has Green Day ever done that I wonder) and started his "showtime" theatrics. That and a new album and a viral internet video. "Great" PR. Couldn't

I'm proud I didn't but "Forty Licks" ten years ago. Eventually, I got a promo single with just the 4 new tracks - so I'm sorted. I don't mind collecting multiple versions of some albums, but I definetely don't want another hit compilation. And I'll gladly do the same regarding GRRR!,if I could have just the two new songs on a CD-single I wouldn't bothe

It's been ages since I last watched my bootleg copy, but I hardly remember any actual Stones' music featured on the film ... Let alone to fill "2 CDs and a vinyl LP" for the deluxe package. Wonder what they will come up with, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Those recent (official) pictures of their archives on rs.com are a good indication, I'd say. On the other hand, one has to keep in consideration the media deterioration. I bet a lot of older recordings would need a helluva re-mastering work in the studio to consider a proper release, particularly film and video recordings. But I guess it's easy to assume there are enough gigs on tape on

Quotetreaclefingers Where you from Handova? I couldn't get away from news stories on the 50th yesterday. I must have seen 50! From Bilbao, in the north of Spain. This morning they actually talked about the Stones in the news, but only showed archive footage. Oh well...

I sported my Bridges to Babylon tour t-shirt all day. Spotted a guy in my city wearing a Stones t-shirt too - he didn't see me but that made me feel good!. Got home and blasted Ya-Ya's real loud while having some drinks and smoke. Watched the news in hope of some news coverage but didn't happen. Oh well, I enjoyed myself.

I never really got into it, don't know why ... And I acknowledge it's "classic" status, and reckon the importance of being the first album written completely by Jagger/Richards. Of course, I also love many of the songs featured - there's nothing wrong here! But still, I miss some "glue" on the album. Might be the "cut and paste" nature of the UK

For what I know, Prince got away with it in 2004, and that's what changed the rules.

There's also some live albums from the 60's apparently (I'm clueless at their discography) ... Any particular recommendation?

I bet they will be heading to the 90's with this one. Pure crap specualtion from my side, but I wouldn't be surprised if we get something like Bremen'98 or Miami'94, for instance.

Back then I succesfully avoided purchasing "40 Licks" (still haven't) and tracked down this 5-track promo disc instead. It certainly feels great to own these 4 songs on a single disc as it feels like an old-fashioned vinyl EP. Not ground-breaking stuff here, but oh well, just a cute little disc with 4 tracks.

Anyone considered working on a "matrix mix" taking the best of both worlds? (I mean the official download and the best sounding bootlegs). Seems like a 50/50 mix could do wonders here, but then again since I don't have the skills dunno if the hassle would be worth it (?). Just a thought, guys!

QuoteDoxa I have said this before but I repeat it again: Altamont is the best live version of "Jumping Jack Flash" ever. They have never ever made that song to sound so meaningful and spot on: it can't be better by human resources. Keith's riffs are just killer hooks, never been the timing soooo perfect (backed nicely by Taylor) and Jagger's vocals simply stunning (even t

I forsee the pattern has not to be geographical, but more about "classic" status on the bootleg market. So in other words - it has to be something we already know for years, with the ocassional treat here and there at best.

My bet is on Leeds '71. I'd much rather something we haven't heard before, but oh well ... Since it appears that the bootleg series is about "re-creating" the classic titles that have been around foe decades, my vote for the next one goes to Leeds '71.

The track list doesn't make any sense - Why include "Sex Drive" and "SFM (from @ the Max)" on a Voodoo Lounge promo sampler ??? ... This and the "Babylon"-style promo artwork look terribly dodgy all together. Would be really surprised now if you tell me it's a legit Virgin Records promo now.

^ That's the spirit, Erik. I'll gladly take anything that didn't make the final cut on Love You Live Mocambo's side. But I still believe that while these are just "digital releases" they will make them fit on the average CD-lenght for some odd reason. We'll see...
