With all this talk about the possibility of having El Mocambo released on the bootleg series, I'm surprised most people expect it to be a full-lenght complete show. Well, I *wish* it could be! ... But on the other hand I wouldn't be surprised if they assemble some 75-minute compilation out of the two club gigs ... probably trying to re-create the flow of an actual gig while having it fi

They must have been hearing us if they are sorting out a El Mocambo release. Think about it, it's not such a rare deal - They are putting out five archive gigs, they better get some diversity there or it would look rather boring if these are just "average" tour gigs! I bet both El Mocambo and maybe some '95 club gig is in the cards .

^ Have a look on amazon.com or even ebay ... it's going around pretty cheap most of the time.

Some albums really benefit from the "continous sequence" and total playing time that a CD allows. Go figure, acts like Pink Floyd would have loved such a concept back in the 70's. But some other times it works the other way round as Stonesdan points out: you get at least 20 or 30% of filler in order to reach the 70-something minutes running time. To some degree "Voodoo&quo

The first half of the book is certainly FASCINATING. I don't really like that much the second half when the author sounds more drama-queen than anything else, but overall is a pretty enjoyable book.

Do 'Steel Wheels Monitor Mixes' and 'Training Wheels' actually feature DIFFERENT material? ... Or is it the very same stuff in different sequence and/or sound quality? I just have the later, and now I wonder if I'm missing something there!

Never bought 40 Licks. Just went for the promo CD-Single featuring the 4 new songs. I might sound a bit snob but it just feels great not to own that compilation.

Used to arrange personal compilations myself trying to get in consideration all those points you mention in your thread, but since the possibilities are endless I gave up after a few CD-Rs that must be lost in some friend's place, lol. It's indeed a bit of a challenge to find a "balance" on a single disc compilation, trying to be fair with the earlier as well as newer mate

...I'd like to know the same for the DVD + CD pack. Been checking eBay for a good deal but it's more or less the retail price on most local shops.

Don't know the Beatles book ... and I sort of agree with Palace - the net seems to be a more appropiate way to document and keep up to date with boot releases (at least its contents). But perhaps it's not a bad idea after all. Now thinking about it, I'd love to have a book with pictures and reproductions of the old vinyl boots from the 70's and 80's. More of a grahpic

QuoteMax'sKansasCity But it looks like "the one to own" is the promo ( ) (I guess) like always. You mean the CD-Single with the Some Girls cover? ... That's new to me. I know a US and European promo CD-single, but these ones had the regular 7" cover adapted to CD. This "new" one looks suspiciously odd.

I'd live with reversed channels, that's no biggie for me. The only complaint I'd think of is this ain't a "physical" release.

Tried listening the first one just the other day, and couldn't go any further than the first 4 tracks. As much as I love Keith, this is just not my cup of tea. Meh.

The thing is they will miss the chance to make some extra money. A "limited" pressing of, let's say, 5.000 copies would sell like hot cakes. Just produce some basic artwork et voila - you've a highly desired collectible. The worst bit is that I already expect bootlegs on "multi coloured double vinyl sets" or SODD, DAC, VGP or whoever cheap realeases on CD. Shame.

Here comes the spoiler: This needs a PHYSICAL release. There's something sacrilegious about having "Brussels'73" and "MP3 only" on the same sentence. This is not Super Heavy! On the other hand I know it's better than nothing, but still, if it don't get a physical release (no matter how cheaply made), I bet you will be offered vinyl and CD bootleg release

Quoteyorkey New York Dolls, right? I've never listened to them before, but I will. To be honest, their debut album cover freaks me out a little bit. That's the point, yorkey! ... You're in for a treat.

Nowadays I'd gladly even take "Popeye the sailor man" as an opener if that means there's a tour on.
