Talk all you want while you enjoy your Great American Songbooks. Now, if there's a chance I'll hear Pool Hall Richard, I may be able to sit through Do Ya Think I'm Sexy without barfing. When I go see the Stones, I'm willing to risk that I'll have to sit through Miss You or Streets of Love in hopes that I'll hear Midnight Rambler, Monkey Man, CYHMK, etc. With Rod

I have never seen him in person, but I've seen video. I did like the unplugged broadcast he did with Ronnie 10-12 yts ago. I guess my taste is different than others. Sure he has one of the greatest rock voices, I just don't like most of the songs being sung by that voice today. I didn't like them when I heard them on the radio, I didn't buy the CD's, and I don

By coincidence, a couple nights ago I was watching the BBC Crown Jewels recording of a Faces performance from around the time 'A Nod...' was released. What an incredible performance. Very little flamboyance or posing, no silly sing-alongs, just five guys having fun playing music. Rod's singing is great and he performs within the band, not like he's above them. I can'

Heard an add on the radio this morning in Houston for a Rod Stewart concert here in August. No mention of Faces, just Rod Stewart. The add referenced 'Rod Stewart.com' for more details, but I don't see anything past the July dates in Europe.

I have an old CD called 'From the Vaults' that has a high quality SB version of SFTD from the 1970 tour, but fades out during Keith's solo. Sure would be nice to hear the rest of that song. Other than Ya-yas, probably the best concert version I've ever heard.

For those that have viewed the first 14 tracks, how does the quality of the video compare to Ladies and Gentlemen? Does the rest of the band get much air time, or is it mostly Jagger. I have seen the Cavet and CS blues video, so I am familiar with that. Thanks

'That Mr. Richards, man he's good as shit!' - Audience member exclamation during YCAGWYW. Thanks Urban for this treasure. I agree with Texas fan that this is VG to VG+ quality. Definitely one of the better audience recordings I've heard from the 72 tour.

I know there was thread here some time back with a link to a home video of the lady who spoke those famous lines on Get Your Ya-Yas Out, but I can't find it anywhere. I've searched both this forum and You Tube using every phrase I can think of but no success. Any help is appreciated. BTW, if you ever doubt how popular the Stones are, search 'Paint it Black' on Youtube.

I don't consider this thread hi-jacked. I'm enjoying the discussion and appreciate the imput from those who've contributed. I got busy for a few days at work and didn't have enough time for important stuff like this. We went to a few stores and played several different types of guitars, but my son ended up buying a used Gibson similar to the one I inquired about. It'

Guitar Players - I would like your opinion on this guitar. Guitar Ctr and Musicians Friend have offered this mohagany Les Paul for several years. The price was US$ 500-600 a few years back and is now $800-900. There are also usually some used ones on EBAY. Are the components in these guitars reliable? My son wants a Les Paul but he has limited funds and I want to make sure he gets somethin

Amusing how Chet Flippo comments in the article about the 75 tour that 'the Stones are a Guitar Band again'. I wonder what the hell he had been listening to the previous 5 years? It's also amusing to see criticism of the tours we now consider the golden age.

I assume they were finishing up this song about the time the opening dates of the 75 tour were finalized, since the lyrics mention Baton Rouge, then San Antonio. Sadly, Mick cuts that verse short in most of the recent concert versions I've heard.

I remember trying to argue to my friends in the late 70's that the Stones were still big time rockers. ER being relaeased as a single did nothing to help my cause. I also remember listening to the release press conference on the radio. Keith didn't attend, so it was primarily Mick talking. Ronnie made a comment that Mick was demonstrating his entire vocal range on ER, or somethi

The Roseland performance is amazing - one of the highlights of the show. If I remember correctly, Mick makes reference to The Royal Tenenbaums when introducing the song. I wasn't there, but to these ears it sounds like it's only Keith on harmany vocals. If so, it's one of the few songs where the Mick/Keith harmonies still sound good, unlike Torn & Frayed, which was played at

OOC was a milestone for me as a stones fan. When they started touring again in 1989, I was neck deep in family life, kids, tight money, etc. so by the time the B2B tour started I had not seen them since 1981. I wondered if they had become just a Vegas greatest hits band, and heard the complaints about too much brass and backup singers. Heading out for one of my kids school functions one night,

The first shot from Oakland of Mick & the audience also catches a cameraman and his video camera. I assume this was the same crew filming the tour and what eventually became 'Gimme Shelter'. Has any video of this show ever surfaced, or is it hidden away with all the other unreleased footage?

Nice review of this book in the Houston Press. Sounds like an interesting read about a guy who had a big influence on Keith back in the day. To his champions, Gram Parsons was a cult-hero musical genius and the primary inventor of “country rock.” But he was also a tragic figure who died prematurely, and whose work has never been properly appreciated. To his critics, Parsons was a spoile

I think Chuck's playing on Angie is one of his finer moments with the Stones. Granted he has great material to work with, but he embelishes it nicely without going over the top (which he can be guilty of). The way his piano meshes with Ron and Keith's guitars reminds me of the Stu/Nicky/Billy days when the keyboards were more involved when the songs were created and were an integral

From the delta blues playing on Spider & the Fly, the spanish stye picking on Angie, the runs up & down the A chord on Sweet Virginia, the 12 string magic on Wild Horses, the beautiful arpeggios on LIV (even though he as trouble saying it), it's all there. Proves once again that there's a lot more to playing guitar than speed & flash. The G-C-D major chords from the classi
