QuoteDoxa QuotePalace Revolution 2000 Wow, Doxa. That 3rd paragraph is heavy. A heavy hitter in a great thread. Thanks. I might go over the top in some of my words, but I think now - at laest personally - that there is a demand for a profilic 1975 official release. We have been now treated with wonferful 1972/73 and 1978 releases. I take this wonderful thread - into which I can't really co

"IS: Well, we have played them onstage but it's too much pissing about with acoustic guitars." Maybe it's some sort of British slang, but I've never understood what Stu meant by this comment. Is he saying it was too much trouble to set up the acoutic guitars and getting the sound right for just a song or two? I always thought Sweet Virginia, Dead Flowers, etc. came

How many bands wish they could put out a live release that's as good as at least one of these? This band has now produced two of the best rock concert recordings of all time.

QuotePalace Revolution 2000 Jagger's hair is so dark. It's weird - to see the Stones, who at that point were very big already, coming off that 72 US tour - and then on such a small provincial little out door stage; with all the make-up etc. The off stage guys just kind of sitting there.. It's the only time I have seen Keith with that white SG, where it was not the LA gig for Nica

I thought those reunion shows were great. Didn't all the members, including Rod, get together about a year ago? Seems like I remember an interview with Ian saying that Rod wanted to lower the key of all the songs they practiced because he couldn't sing them the way they were originally recorded. I would go the show just to see Ronnie. He's a different guy when he plays his own m

Here's a link to a story I found in a local publication. I tired to copy the text into my post, but kept getting an error when I tried to post. The writer's impression is similar to most everyone else who saw them in '72. I can't vouch for his memory, but he seems pretty certain that 'Dead Flowers' was played at the 2nd Houston show.

For my taste, the studio version is weak musically and I usually skip over it; however, I thought it was quite good at the one ABB concert I attended. It had more punch and was much more guitar intensive. Both Keith and Ronnie were playing rather than posing.

In some of the early 1969 tour shows I've heard, they play/sing all three verses. Maybe Oakland, and I'm pretty sure at San Diego. QuoteMarhsall What's up w. the sailor's versre anyway? Why is it in there? Was it a left over lyric that Mick wanted to use or what?

I've always liked the way Keith played this during the 69 tour. Especially during Taylor's solo, he plays the first part of the main riff, then slams some sort of D chord 3-4 times and then walks his way back to E and the beginning again. Anyone know what chords/notes he's playing here?

Bill, Charlie and Keith - the engine room is in fine form here. Love the way Keith used to play that driving rhythm.

I liked that more than I thought I would before seeing it - a spirited performance. Never really paid much attention to Keith Urban. Took him as just another country-pop singer, but he knows how to work with good material.

Maybe this information is already contained in one of these 'Plundered' threads, but is there any definitive statement as to whether Taylor's playing is from the original track (71-72) or new (09-10)?

He's playing the melody of 'A few of my favorite things' around the 1:50 mark - that's what he and the bass player are smiling at. Is this performance really over a year old, or is the title incorrect?

This is the last known video of Keith playing his original Ampeg Dan Armstrong, correct? For that reason alone is should be released. I've always liked 'Dead Flowers' from this recording. The lead/harmony vocals are much better balances than the Leeds recording. I guess it helps when Keith sings into the microphone. Interesting that someone mentions they should have rehearse

QuoteMathijs Keith used four guitars on the Winter Tour 1973: the Gibson LP Junior for all standard tuning, the Gibson SG Custom for MR, the 5-string Newman-Jones for most open G songs, and the '53/'54 Fender Telecaster (Micawbre) for some open G songs. He seemed to alternate the Tele and the Newman Jones guitar on several songs. Brown Sugar and HTW where always played on the NJ, YCAGWY

Both Keith and Ronnie would probably need oxygen after trying to play that fast for three and a half minutes. It's just nice to hear someone make the effort to bring these songs to life. I've seen a couple other clips from this show and it's obvious these songs mean as much to them as they do to us, where it seems Mick thinks that if a song didn't get radio play, why bothe

Lots of great solos from Bye Bye Johnnie in 72-73. The one from Welcome to NY is outstanding, as is the one from the Charlotte show.

QuoteSilver Dagger I don't think they'd undertake a 40th anniversary edition unless they were going to augment the original release with extra songs - and perhaps one of the full concerts, which they must have. Sounds good to me. and just in time for Christmas..

After following some of the link's Elmo posted, I came across this photo. Besides the Stones, the only other band whose music really spoke to me was the Allman Bros. Not so much the 20+ min jams, but songs like Melissa, Blue Sky, Please call home, etc. I never knew they set up and played in the chapel at Duane's funeral. Even though they were professional musicians, it must have t

One of my all time favorate songs, but I can see why some people get tired of hearing it in concert. At the show I attended on the last tour, Keith played the opening riff, then spent most of the rest of the song waving, posing, head-heart-balls, etc. In contrast, look how intense he is on the 72 video. I know the song was new then, but still. Watching those more recent videos, you can real

Bidding is at $20,100. and the reserve has not been met. In case you don't pick up on it in the details (it's only mentioned about 5 times) this guitar was owned and played by Dickey during the 'Brothers and Sisters' sessions. Kidding aside, a nice gesture by Dickey to help out an old friend.

I was at the Houston show. The radio ads leading up to the show really played up the 'special guests', but there were none. Some of the people with me really expected to see Jagger and were disappointed, but I was there to see Keith and Ron. I had seen the Stones for the first time the year before, and Keith was totally introverted - head down, not interacting with the crowd at all
