Stripped is a great album I had almost forgotten about! The guitarplayers are extremely focussed. Sweet virginia is played a bit boring, but the rest of the album is full of swinging musicality, all the solos are wonderful. Stripped features lots of great stonesmoments!

Always wondered why they didn't release a DVD of the Stripped TV special as a bonus disc

Stripped was the album that took the Norwegian capitals newspapers by storm (VG, Dagbladet, and Aftenposten). Six on the dice.

I think there is no DVD because at the time of release there was no dvd format and after that, we all know they won´t look back to release something from the archiv

Sure. A Stones vintage. Underrated.

I love the sound of Stripped.

Love in vain alone makes it worth it. Great album!

When I first heard Stripped it was when I was still just getting Into the stones and It made me realize that they'd be still worth seeing live if they ever toured again. before that I didnt think I'd be interested. But after hearing it it was like "woah they're still good!"

Yes I have often wondered that,I suppose it's because the dvd/videos are on different labels,I might be wrong but I don't think even some of the dvds are on the same label / distributor shame as if things were a little more organised some of the other dvds could be added to cd as worthwhile packages.
Then we might get
Steel Wheels/At the Max or Flash point/At the Max
Voodoo Lounge/Voodoo Lounge (Giants )or ( Miami )
Bridges To Babylon studio album with the Live dvd
I have a version of VL that has 2 live dvds already but I wouldn't like to vouch for its authenticity.
Of course anything before this time even Let's Spend The Night Together is such a minefield I doubt any official product will ever appear, never mind be included as bonus dvds attached to official cds.
Going back to the original thread I too love this cd it's a sort of warm relaxed companion I've played it endlessly in my cars over the years,but not for a while I must admit,
I think a return to the car is called for again.

Stripped was the first ever STONES album I bought, I was in a low paid apprentice style job in a furniture shop at the timne, and it was only £2.49 on cassette in a sale. I already had the 99p 7" of I GO WILD and the CD single of LIKE A ROLLING STONE, and I really loved STRIPPED!!!

THE best post tour album ever released by the band. Hearing reworked versions of old songs like " I'm Free" make you realise how much their songs live, breath, and grow over time.

Sad to say, YouTube removed all the songs from the Stripped sessions I had posted.

Good old ABKO. They might be the only reason we don't get an offial box set released with rare material.

Reminder if you want the Stripped "Wild Horses" it is also on "Rarities"

From the delta blues playing on Spider & the Fly, the spanish stye picking on Angie, the runs up & down the A chord on Sweet Virginia, the 12 string magic on Wild Horses, the beautiful arpeggios on LIV (even though he as trouble saying it), it's all there. Proves once again that there's a lot more to playing guitar than speed & flash.
The G-C-D major chords from the classic LIV versions of old are etched in my mind, but here Keith throws in all kinds of minors & other variations, rarely playing the same sequence twice in a row. Plus the subtle hammers, sting bends, pull offs and the way he connects the chord changes, just amazing technique & talent.
Ronnie has his moments, but Keith's playing just blows me away. Let the masses go play Guitar Hero 3, I already have my guitar hero.

Let me bump this thread. I'm throughly convinced that Stripped + Stripped Companion would've made a great 2-CD set (one studio, one live). Apart from the outstanding playing, the recorded live sound is amongst the best I've ever heard from the official releases. Lots of punch from the rhythm section, guitars out front, excellent vocals (not too loud). Superbly mixed.

Like A rolling Stone was a wicked choice of a bob song for the stones to do. i have an awesome memory of them playing it at MSG from the small stage.

"At The Max" and "Voodoo Lounge" pre-date "Stripped" and both are commercially available on DVD.

A bit of a waste that this excellent Tv special isnt available on DVD (especially as many of the live songs are different versions from those on the album, as well as the inclusion of some songs that werent on it at all)

Certainly an expanded CD + DVD reissue (with additional material on BOTH versions) would be a welcome addition.

I think Chuck's playing on Angie is one of his finer moments with the Stones. Granted he has great material to work with, but he embelishes it nicely without going over the top (which he can be guilty of).

The way his piano meshes with Ron and Keith's guitars reminds me of the Stu/Nicky/Billy days when the keyboards were more involved when the songs were created and were an integral part of the song/sound. It puzzles me why musicians who are this talented cannot create new material with an integrated sound like this. I can't really describe it, but the new material often sounds more layered and/or overdubbed than integrated. I don't know if it's the recording process, or they just create songs differently now.

My biggest gripe with Stripped is that somewhere between the Miami 94 broadcast and these sessions, Keith's acoustic intro to Sweet Virginia got lost and they've never found it. He certainly seemed to enjoy playing it in Miami. I guess it's not a big deal to some people, but I've always felt it really set the acoustic/country tone and feel of the song. As you can probably tell from my earlier post in this thread, I get really passionate about Keith's playing.
