One element, other than the vibrato, that helped define this and many other songs from this era is that the keyboard player, be it Stu, Nicky or Billy, was involved in the creation and composition of the song. The keyboards were woven into the fabric and became an integral part of the song along with the guitars and rhythm. With Mick or Keith creating most of the songs on their own now, it se

Great clip. Seeing them take the stage almost brought tears to my eyes. Can't beat the excitement of the opening of a Stones show. I wish I was going to one today.

It's on again at 1AM Eastern time in the U.S. Man, Ronnie was awesome in those days. No wonder Mick wanted him in the band.

IORR was the first new Stones recording I purchased. I was in high school and listening to lots of different bands and music. The only other Stones album I owned was Hot Rocks. Actually, I didn't buy the album but the 8 track tape because cruising in the car and listening to tunes was a big part of my life. At that age, I didn't listen to music the way I do now. I didn't k

I was there, it was my first Stones concert. The show was at the Sam Houston coliseum (long gone), which was an old arena where the Stones had performed previously on their early US tours in the mid 60's. Capacity was about 14,000. The irony was that there was a brand new state-of-the-art arena called the Summit (later Compaq Center) but it was booked for a two week run by the Ringling Br

Don't know if this has been discussed here before. Has anyone seen this video? If so, what's your opinion? It's from London 1975 and billed as Rod Stewart and the Faces final concert, with Keith joining in on two numnbers.

Another Article: Singer-songwriter Billy Preston dies at 59 By MICHAEL D. CLARK Copyright 2006 Houston Chronicle For a gifted, influential musician often tagged "the fifth Beatle," Billy Preston never became a household name like John, Paul, George or Ringo. But the Houston-born rock, soul and gospel phenom was an essential musical mover and shaker whose keyboards and vocal

Does anyone have any experience with the Ampeg's Anniversary Classic products? Their web site lists SVT-AT head and SVT-410AT & 810AT enclosures. The product description even mentions that Rolling Stones 'sound' from the late 60's and early 70's, but at 300watts, these aren't for small room gigs.

The Lotus stage opening in 75/76. I had never even seen the pictures til they were posted here a few weeks back. That was before my concert going days, but I would have to think the Lotus opening and 'Fanfare' playing was one of the coolest concert openings ever. Thanks

Seems like I remember a minor stir during the Licks tour when a review said they shared the mike for part of a song, maybe HTW. I think it was at one of the U.S. shows.

I remember reading some of the press reports from the Houston 72 shows. One of the more liberal publications talked as much about the harrasment by 'the establishment' of ticketgoers as they entered the building as it did about the show itself. It seems The Man was determined to make sure no extra electronic hardware found it's way into the concert. Remember the attitude of those

I was there. I remember the show well because they played Under My Thumb on the B stage, and Ruby Tuesday earlier in the show. I had not been to a show since 1981, when UMT was the opener, & I remember being a little disappointed that it did not have the same bite as I remember the 81 version having. RT was great though, just like the rest of the show. This is the first I've heard of

That tour was my first Stones show and I don't think I had seen much video of them since the Ed Sullivan shows ten years earlier when I was just a kid. Those photos really bring back the memories of my first impressions of Keith - head down, introverted, totally into his guitar and playing. No posing, no squatting, no kicks - just playing, but also little to no interaction with the audienc

I made the Houston show. I also remember the 'special guest' thing being heavily promoted on the radio in the days and weeks leading up to the show, but of course there were none. My friend was convinced that Jagger would be there. The show was enjoyable but my strongest memory is the difference in Keith's stage personality from a year earlier. When I saw the Stones in Housto

They showed portions of it in the states Monday night during the football broadcast in association with the Hurricane Katrina fundraiser by the NFL. There was even a short clip of the four band members standing together and Mick saying something about the hurricane relief fund. As for the video itself, it was only film of the band on stage playing the song, with images of the storm damage and

In Jan 2003 in Houston, JJ came onstage and played with the band on Honky Tonk Women. I'm sure a good number of the crowd did not know who he was, but it was interesting to see the members of the Stones go ga-ga over him the way the fans were ga-ga over the Stones. Maybe that's why that show was so hot.
