Quotejohn lomax Ticket prices are as high as the market will bear. If they are too high, then people won't pay. But it looks like plenty of people are prepared to pay those prices, and so I think that the Stones and their promoters hVe judged the market well. I wish prices were lower, but thats life. The Stobes aren't under any obligation to perform for free or at some knock- down pric

Turdontherun, I know lots of greedy leftists too. A tread like this stinks of "if you don't have money you're a bum" or like the other sucker said, "you should have saved". Reminds me of recent comments in America. Anyway I don't care if I jumped to conclusion, as my logic is clear as crystal: if you believe that offer-and-demand is the only rule by which one sh

Perhaps you believe you're left wing. You don't even know what it means. I know your kind and I know it's pointless to argue with morons like you but all the same you should know - YOU started this thread with your disgusting pride in making mondey, YOU brag about your @#$%& dollars and want people to know you're rich, and can't even let them voice their natural complain

Quotepinkfloydthebarber Quotepaulywaul Quotepinkfloydthebarber Lots of grumbling about stones show ticket prices. gosh hey, if you think prices are too high, then DONT GO ok? is this so hard? thanks How about this for a suggestion to you - on behalf of a great many people that somewhat unsurprisingly are inclined to think the prices are a just a little bit on the high side .......

Disliked it at first, love it now. And the amazing thing: it's actually the LYRICS that made me love it - now when was the last time this was the case? The lyrics and Jagger's fabulous delivery. Favourite line: "Hear a funky noise? It's the tightening of the screws" Brilliant!

So I'll contradict myself now. Aside from the obvious fact that to put out 2 songs every five years is not quite enough to say that a band is "working", I actually think that Doom & Gloom (which left me cold at first) tops anything on Tempest by a dozen miles. The lyrics are just so much fun! "Lost all the treasure in an overseas war, just goes to show you don't ge

So you dismiss the USADA whatever they say, but you will trust the UCI whatever they say? What sense does that make?

Sad sad sad... re-read your posts and mine, and perhaps you'll see where the witch-hunt is: in Armstrong accusing everybody of plotting his downfall and being jealous and whatnot (for which he has NO evidence), and NOT in the USADA presenting a detailed and argued 1000 pages report. As for our conversation, you are accusing me of being anti-US and a witch-hunter, while I've not accu

Read my posts and they will show you that it's clearly not an EU vs US issue in my view. Paradoxically, you are accusing an AMERICAN justice body and trusting a EUROPEAN body (the UCI), but you accuse ME of being anti-American? Come on now, you think the AMERICAN USADA has an agenda against Armstrong but the EUROPEAN UCI is fair and square with him? But you think I, as a european who clearly

Oh no it's not the top of the list - politics and economics being off-limit on this board I cannot number my priorities. Armstrong comes maybe at number 25 000 on that list. But if we discuss Armstrong, then let's do it rationally and face facts. Now, I could return your point: there is so much shit going on, so many people being cheated and robbed - of their home, their jobs, their bas

As to why it matters; punishing cheat and theft, which are wrong in themselves and detrimental to others MATTERS. Nothing matters more. Surely that is obvious to you? There are bigger issues in the world, but if you want to live in a just society you simply cannot say "oh well, one man cheated for years, made millions, took everybody in, but what does it matter? It's yesterday's ne

Max, you clutch at two straws: Armstrong not having been tested and the UCI not having (yet) taken away the trophies. These straws are not strong enough because 1) Armstrong has been scientifically proven to have doped (on top of perfectly valid testimonies) 2) the UCI is NOT a juridicial entity, it is just a private entity that allocates trophies. JUSTICE has spoken. Whether the UCI decid

The evidence in the report is not only testimonial. It contains physiological data which can only be explained by drug taking. Remember science improves and scientists can deduce more now from these data than they could before. Read the report and you will see that it does NOT contain only testimonial evidence. Remember also that testimonial evidence is not the same thing as hearsay. In a witch h

MaxKansasCity, I am French so hear it from me: Laurent Jalabert, never caught at anti-doping tests, was a fraud and a cheat. Virenque, obviously got caught. Indurain was a fraud and a cheat. Bugno, Ulrich, Zulle, were all frauds and cheats. I have nothing personally against Armstrong and I am happy that the Tour said they would nominate no winners in his stead - the 2nd and 3rd were doped as w

The UCI is up to their head in murky waters since the Indurain years at least. Remember it is a private body that makes its own rules, and it is not in their interest for their policies and winners to be thus exposed. Many other bodies have tried to fight its influence for decades and failed. Everybody inside cycling know that Verbruggen is a crook. Instead of listening to insults, READ THE REPOR

Keefriffhard: a court can condemn you "in abstentia", you know. You are judged on evidence and you have the right to defend yourself; if you choose to forfeit that right, you are no less judged nor condemned. Kansascity: THE FACTS ARE I loved cycling up until the Indurain years when it was simply impossible to take it seriously. Very sad; and I am happy that it is cleaned up of ende

Quotekeefriffhard4life QuoteEleanor Rigby so do you guys still adore the great Lance Armstrong? He is biggest cheat the world has ever seen !!! he has been convicted of nothing and passed lots of drug tests. Wrong: he has just been convinced of something. USADA has the power to convict someone and they have done it. What you are saying is as absurd as if, condemned in court for theft, I wo

The vendetta-theory is so very ridiculous, who can buy it? What is it to USADA whether Armstrong, or Pantani, or Ulrich, wins the tour? What do they care??? You know the old axiom of detective films: look for a motive. What possible motives could have the anti-doping agency to destroy Armstrong? Jealousy, simply because he's rich and famous? Oh wait, then how come they don't attack each

Bah. Two listens, that will do. Totally uninteresting. Indeed they could pay any session musicians to record a song "in the style of" and it would result in that. Empty shell.

Windmelody, I did not make myself clear: by not "performed", I ment the songs are not "interpreted", or in other words the delivery is just generic and uninteresting (to my ears). Ross, yes, I have listened to Tempest - I must say I just find it weak and bland, especially the lyrics to the title track are just really silly to me. They pile up easy snapshots and fail to brin

The Stones are NOT an active band anymore, that's just it. It's absurd to want to "kick them in the ass" or to hope for this or that or whatever 11th hour masterpiece. We are fans of a band that belongs to the past and we all know it. How odd to nurture a disappointment about them. As for Dylan, well, he has the most loyal and devoted group of fans, good for him - but to m

I listened and once more remain puzzled at the adoration. The lyrics are so weak, it takes a lot and a lot of faith to find anything in the title track that is of interest... The Titanic story is so rich in meaning, but Dylan just piles up easy metaphors and platitudes, very disapointing. The rest sounds to me like the rantings of a bitter megalomaniac who used to have a way with words but doesn&

Well... I like it. The first short solo is very nice, the singing is OK although obviously nothing special, and the sound is interesting. The end goes nowhere though... Still, I've no idea why this attracted so much stick, I'm not taylorite and find most of his stones solo versions booooring, but I actually thought this was quite nice!

Well, I can't believe nobody likes the Miss You version! The last verses are so good, and Jagger trading licks with the background vocalists is just so precise and so groovy, excellent build-up. And I honestly don't know what's wrong with the keyboards, this is a smooth 70s soul style version, excellent stuff. While Almost hear you Sigh is excellently played, it remains a horrible

Well, I enjoy it. Sure on some level it sucks - but on another level it's a lot of fun. It's like food: sometimes you feel like raw, tasty horse meat, but at other times nothing would make you happier than one of 'em evil Big Mac. Stones 90s is the Big Mac version of the raw horse meat that was Stones '69. I don't need to give '89 stones my artistic blessing to enjoy
