I'd date this at the very end of 1971. The clerk refers to Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits Vol. 2, which was released on Nov. 17, 1971, as being "brand new." Neil isn't even aware that it exists.

I have always loved this track. Great build up to the end with Taylor soloing. I really like Goats Head Soup. First chance I got to see 'em was in 1975 so I missed this gem a coupla years back (despite lining up for Cardiff Castle tickets. The gig that wasn't to be).
