MICK JAGGER is the BEST.
Frankie is DEAD.

Why did Frankie not lick Hank Williams shoes in the 50"s last centuary?

Love Sinatra. Can't say "My Way" is a great song for anybody, but he interprets the lyrics well. I've listened to Sinatra since I was in my mid-teens which puts me back in the stone age, no pun intended. Interestingly, back in the 1980s, maybe early 1990s, he had a line of food items. His red sauce was really good. I discovered it at an Italian deli I shopped at in Baltimore. Mastellone's had freshly made mozzarella and Italian sausage - sweet and hot - to die for. But, getting back to Sinatra, just like many singers and bands, he had his most fertile period than the rest, hit or miss. My fave song by Sinatra is "Summer Wind". A perfect listen, IMHO.

Regarding discussing music, maybe following the words of the late Duke Ellington sums it up best re the topic: "There's only good music and bad music".

Do what you like, Chris...
Ok I get your point- I tried to change the Subject Line to OT: no avail. Maybe the mafia is involved? Rumors still exist with that great singer.

It doesn't even come close to My Way.

Sinatra I think is a giant, perhaps the giant....but isn't Dylan in his own way sort of right there too?

This comparison is made even more interesting by Bobby Z's recent infatuation with Sinatra's songbook. Dylan clearly feels some kind of kinship to those songs.
Though not technically immaculate, Sinatra's voice is one of the treasures of the 20th century, in my opinion. He "reinvented" himself several times over the course of a long career, too, setting a standard for how a huge pop star could respond to changes in the culture around him.
And, from a musical pt of view, it just doesn't get any better than his Capitol years. Wonderful songs, delivered with a real swing and 3am blues feel. He sits atop mid-centry American popular song for me.

It's funny on here, the hostility towards the thought that we might have other loves in music or want to discuss a talent like Sinatra because he's not Rock like the Stones . It comes across as jealousy. I mean I love Mick and Keith as writers and performers but they haven't really got singing voices to compare with the greats.
Personally I love so many types of music and singers that it's a shame we can't discuss a man like Frank Sinatra on a music forum like this without the crap. The guy was incredible, if you don't get him or like him there are plenty of other threads.
Its not like the Stones are so active right now that this just gets in the way of everything.
