I really hope whatever 2017 shows they put together aren't just festivals. I'd love to fly to Europe to catch a few shows but I don't think I could muster the motivation for festivals. Especially if this is the end of the Stones as a touring band. It seems like a really diluted and watered down way to end it.

Thing is they played Europe in 2014 so it will only have been 3 years if they indeed come back next year. There might be some concern that they won't be able to fill these stadiums on their own like the last time. It wouldn't be as bad as 2006->2007 especially if there is a new album but still...On the other hand some "festivals" are "ok", BST Hyde Park wasn't very different from going to a Stones' show like Longchamps 1995. Festivals like Werchter require more planning. LP

We're they unable to fill stadiums in 2006-2007?

In Turkey and outdoors on the second (or was it third?)leg of the US ABB tour in late october. Don't worry, that would have happened with ANY band smiling smiley

Lots of Middle European venues were far from sold out in 2006&07: Vienna, Munich, Berlin, Werchter, Nijmegen, Brno, Warsaw and probably some more.

The whole of the top tier in Paris in 2007 was tarpaulined off and ,(I think it was him) stonesfrkk from this board, who I bumped into after the show said that FoS GA tickets were beinf sold for 50 EUR at the Stadium box office on show day.

They have only played Turkey once, in 1998.

they only did 13 true euro shows in 2014 (not counting Israel), in 12 countries; but 4 were festivals.

they skipped a lot of countries and markets. like UK, Ireland, Finland, the whole of Eastern Europe....

IF they tour europe in 2017, they'll have no trouble selling out stadiums.

My thought is they bring back Bill and Mick T, that would pull a lot of interest combined with a back to the roots Blues CD. Just a thought/idea.

It might pull a lot of interest around here...but not from the market at large.

It's important a new "Concept" Tour, with a new stage, a new album, new stuff played live...Four new album's tunes, 2/3 Blues numbers on the old little stage, 3 "pearls" of the past and mid show is refresh & ready!

I'd say 14 warhorses/live standards, 3 rarer songs from the past (like Little T&A) and 2 new songs - a normal song and a blues - is more realistic.

If this really is the end and there's got to be a good chance then the final show is very likely to be in London. Wembley, with all its faults must be good bet.

In my opinion if they'll make a new album next spring then they'll touring for others 3 years with 14/15 show each year:next year Europe, then in 2018 Australasia (Mick said that he would come back in South Africa and maybe India and then Exhibitionism will go in Australia in 2018...), then in 2019 North America with major US and canadian cities (I can't imagine no more show in N.Y.C. since 2012...)and to the endconfused smileyouth America early 2020!

Yep. And I'll be grateful if we even get that. I get the impression it won't be anything like 14 on fire. As others have said, 7 or 8 shows finishing in their hometown of London and that's it finished forever.

Just the recorded works and tribute bands from then on. And hopefully the vaults opened up.

The Stones will be touring Europe. There's nothing to fact check, just remember you heard it here first.

i want to believe you, really.. is 2016 a Fact???
hope so.

I think my source may be off on the dates, it can be cold in Europe in the fall, but it came straight from the top. So far my guy has been accurate about everything. The Fonda, San Diego, The S/A tour and Havana, Coachella. I've no reason to doubt him.

Any idea what months in Europe.

Well, they had played a sold out crowd at the same venue just the year before.
And the stadium was absolutely crammed in 2014.

I was there 1998, 2007 and 2014. I travelled to Paris in 2014 without a ticket and got one by pure chance from a Mexican girl who recognised me from the early queue in Oslo 18 days before. We were on the London Paris coach and her friend in Psris had a spare in GA Gold which I bought from her the next day at face value. If thst hadn't happened aI would have struggled as I saw no touts on the day so I think it was a true sellout. 1998 was a big crowd but not sold out. I had a nosebleed seat but was allowed to walk into the pitch unchallenged and got a good spot.

Paris has always been a favourite venue for the Stones and I can't see them skipping it.

The Rolling Stones in Europe 2017 - tour name ?
Posted by: paulywaul ()
Date: November 15, 2016 15:48

So ........ here's the deal !

We all know they're going to do some shows in UK and Europe in 2017

We're ahead of them, because (a) not even they know that they'll be doing this, and (b) in addition, not even the bloke that says 'Ladies n' Gentlemen, will you welcome to the stage please .... the ROLLING STONES' hot smiley hot smiley hot smiley does either !

So I feel it's absolutely necessary that we take matters into our own hands and throw them some suggested names for this particular outing, because they obviously can't be trusted to come up with something halfway decent themselves. I mean wtf ..... ZIPCODE for example ! Who the hell dreamt that one up ? The f***ing postman ? Absurd !

I'll get the ball rolling .......

Retrospective
Full Circle
55 And Counting
Still Rolling
Rhythm And Blues

And so on ......

Suggestions welcome ....... the sensible, the stupid, the arcane, they're bound to choose one of them, because we all know they read IORR !! grinning smiley

[ I want to shout, but I can hardly speak ]
