I’ve never understood all the love Under The Radar gets. For me Don’t Wanna Go Home is a much better track!!! See no two fans alike! Lol

Under the Radar has such a great intro, guitars sound so Stonesy, so much promise, Child of the Moon reminiscent. A song I wanted to like, but it never quite takes off.

Infamy was a skipper for ages, only recently came around to giving it more time. Hardly a great track, and not as good as This Place is Empty, but I've come to enjoy it nonetheless. The groove I suppose, and Micks harmonica. I have it following Back of my Hand on ABB playlist and its working fine!

An album I still rate, still listen to. Some high quality Stones music contained - Rough Justice, Rain Fall Down, Back of my Hand, Laugh, It Wont Take Long, This Place.

Rude, rowdy and rocking. Stones swaggering in 2005.

01 Rough Justice
02 Let Me Down Slow
03 It Won't Take Long
04 Under the radar
05 This Place Is Empty
06 Streets of Love
07 Back of My Hand
08 Sweet Neo Con
09 Don't wanna go home
10 Rain Fall Down
11 Laugh, I Nearly Died

This was enough for me.......

The rest of it is, to me, like Mick messing around trying to get to something decent........except Infamy of course which is completely dreadful. imo of course.

This is my "Better" Bang

Rough Justice
Let Me Down Slow
It Won't Take Long
Rain Fall Down
She Saw Me Coming

Oh No, Not You Again
Biggest Mistake
Dangerous Beauty
Laugh, I Nearly Died
Infamy

I’d go for that but skip Infamy (sorry Keith)

Rough Justice
Let Me Down Slow
Back Of My Hand
Rain Fall Down
This Place Is Empty

She Saw Me Coming
Biggest Mistake
Dangerous Beauty
Look What The Cat Dragged In
Laugh, I Nearly Died

For me, the disc should have been all 19 tracks released that year and sequenced differently:

Rain Fall Down
She Saw Me Coming
Biggest Mistake
Streets of Love
It Won't Take Long
Rough Justice
Oh No, Not You Again
Let Me Down Slow
Under the Radar
Laugh? I Nearly Died
Dangerous Beauty
Back of My Hand
Sweet Neo Con
Driving Too Fast
We Don't Wanna Go Home
Look What the Cat Dragged In
Infamy
This Place is Empty
Hurricane

Aside from Rough Justice, Rain Fall Down, It Won't Take Long, She Saw Me Coming, Dangerous Beauty, Biggest Mistake, Let Me Down Slow - just those alone make a fantastic album - short and hitting. Then...

Laugh... is insanely awesome.

Agreed; from first listening (likely this very day 18 years ago), until today, Laugh has a magic about it. Top shelf stuff.

I wonder why Under The Radar and Don’t Wanna Go Home were left off the original release? They’re quite clearly stronger tracks than more than several of the original 16, chosen. Then again: I haven’t listened to anything off of A Bigger Bang for a long time. It’s hardly stood the test of time, has it? It’s predecessor, Bridges to Babylon, at least includes a couple of modern-day ‘classics’ in Saint of Me and Out of Control. It does baffle me somewhat that the former hasn’t been dusted-off for a live rendition since 2003.

Might have something to do with how they wanted to balance the songs on the album.

My main gripe with ABB is how it sounds and that the collection of songs are more boring than we're used to from the Stones, imo. RJ, LMDS and LIND are great, though.

"Rough Justice"
"Let Me Down Slow"
"It Won't Take Long"
"Rain Fall Down"

"Streets of Love"
"Biggest Mistake"
"Oh No, Not You Again"
"Laugh, I Nearly Died"

To my ears, 'Sweet Neocon', for all its weirdness does achieve some sort of momentum. Too many of the songs, such as "Oh No Not You Again', sound forced, they don't swing at all. Does anyone know how many of the tracks featured Charlie?

As for 'We Don't Wanna Go Home' IMHO it is one of the weakest tunes they've ever done.

Let's hope HD is better smiling smiley

I'd add back in Dangerous Beauty, SSMC, and Under The Radar for a more complete album and I think you'd have a 4 star release. Solid.

oops, and Back of My Hand. You can swap out SOL.

But they had to complete this series:

Please Go Home
Goin' Home
2000 Light Years From Home
We Don't Wanna Go Home

Like mentioned by Topi, he is in all over of them, but I think what could be the reason for the tracks probably not having that typical groove, that is, sounding a bit forced by Stones standards is that Charlie was not there were when the backing tracks were laid, but just replaced later the original drum tracks (laid by Mick mostly I guess). So Charlie couldn't much affect on the total 'feel' for the tracks.

Laugh,i nearly died is a masterpiece.
Rough justice would be nr.1 rocker for any other band.
Rain fall down, this place is empty and back of my hand are really good tracks.
In my world infamy and sweet neo con are in top 5 weakest stones song ever.

Good album anyway

You had me up to Dangerous Beauty. That is the best track on there! LOOK AT THE LYRICS...brilliant! I'd like half an album of this announced Wednesday.

DANGEROUS BEAUTY

In your high school photo
You looked so young and naive
Now I heard you got a nickname
The lady of the leash

Well I find you on a midnight shift
I bet you had your fair share of stiffs
There were onerous odors
I've got to admit

Cause you're a dangerous, dangerous
A dangerous beauty
So painfully plain to us
You're doing your duty

Who you got there in that hood, you look so fancy in those photographs
With your rubber gloves on you're a favorite with the Chiefs of Staff
You're doing such a wonderful job
You're a natural at working with dogs
Keeping everyone awake at night
With a touch of the prods

Well you're a dangerous, dangerous
A dangerous beauty
Yeah, disdainfully, painfully
A bit of booty, yeah
You're a dangerous, dangerous
A dangerous beauty
Beauty

Well you're a dangerous, dangerous
A dangerous beauty

If I was your captain
I'd put you soon to bed
What I say
Yeah everybody
Beauty
Everybody now, yeah
Are you all tied up, put in a box
Yeah, dangerous
Giving them electric shocks
I've seen the gloves coming off
Dangerous
If looks could be killing, I bet you shoot me now

Great album, of course. I keep comin' back to it regularly and more often than to some others, including "Bridges" which may be more coherent but on average "Bang" has got the better tunes. My fave tracks are "Back Of My Hand", "It Won't Take Long" and "Let Me Down Slow", my least favourite is "Streets Of Love", yet that would be a perfect fit for any solo MJ-LP (not really bad then but not really Stones either)...

A1 Rough Justice * * * * 1/2
A2 Let Me Down Slow * * * * 1/2
A3 It Won't Take Long * * * * *
A4 Rain Fall Down * * * *

B1 Streets Of Love * * *
B2 Back Of My Hand * * * * *
B3 She Saw Me Coming * * * *
B4 Biggest Mistake * * * *

C1 This Place Is Empty * * * *
C2 Oh No Not You Again * * * 1/2
C3 Dangerous Beauty * * * *
C4 Laugh I Nearly Died * * * * 1/2

D1 Sweet Neo Con * * * 1/2
D2 Look What The Cat Dragged In * * * 1/2
D3 Driving Too Fast * * * 1/2
D4 Infamy * * * *

Side 1 is brill, Side 4 less so. Still, skipping is never something I would recommend. It's an album after all. "Under The Radar" I like a lot (* * * * 1/2) so yeah, by its inclusion "Bang" could have been even better, especially in place of "Streets".
