I couldn't believe how weak "Trouble" sounded on first hearing but it did grow on me from being poor to mediocre. If that's one of the stand-out tracks, I dread to think what some of the songs on this album are like.

"Trouble" is (in my opinion) the weakest. I like he album very much, but still think that "Trouble" is a letdown.

I've burned a copy that includes the Love Overdue remix and instrumental version of Trouble.

Where/How does one get the instrumental version of Trouble, please and thank you?

There's a UK promo single for Trouble being sold on ebay containing Trouble on its three versions: the radio edit, the album version and the instrumental version.

The single has leaked on torrent sites, too. winking smiley

Thanks Cristiano - I've never dealt with torrents, and would be seriously grateful for a little more guidance.
All I need is the instrumental version, since I own the album and don't feel a need for the radio edit.

During the intro to Nothing on Me I'm hearing some serious Keith riffage and weavability action that's reminiscent of Beast of Burden.
It's continuous throughout the song, and it's all pure and vintage Keith. Easily sounds like a Stones tune to me with the classic guitar sound,
the thumping drums, great backup vocals, tasty keyboards, and Keith groaning and growling'You know they watch me like hawk...'

Thanks for the tip! Just got it. The Best Buy with the bonus track of Love Overdue is also out there. I kind of prefer it without the brass. Edit: It has brass but it's much more in the background.

That's Keith's Mayfield-esque style. Developed and perfected during 1975-1982 and after. Taylorites may not like it, but I absolutely adore that kind of playing!

Featured a lot on Almost Hear You Sigh live as well thumbs up

Yes indeed Curtis Mayfield was a classy guitar player. thumbs up

While I don't consider myself a devoted 'Taylorite' lol, there's no question he was the Stones best guitarist imo (not knocking Ronnie).
Just an opinion, but a bit of Mick Taylor slide here, or quick lick there couldn't have hurt this tune or others where 'the weave' was the predominant style.
It might have even elevated them to another heavenly level, but it is what it is...damn good stuff just the way it is.

I adopted this style from Jimi Hendrix who took it beyond anything Curtis Mayfield did with it, imo. But Jimi credits Mr. Mayfield for the inspiration. The use of bar position C and G chords with all the associated hammer on's have always been a great sounding tool in the guitarists toolbox. Can't imagine why you think Taylor-ites wouldn't like it, good guitar is good guitar and I've seen Taylor do those licks too when playing rhythm parts, although not often.

A little OT but, I've always noticed how much Jimi always used downstrokes so much more than upstrokes, never really an alt. picking approach, part of his sound of course but I imagine over time he would have beat guys like EVH and others to the superfast alt picking thing. lol

Because of the repeated comments about how Keith merely should stick to rhythm guitar.

These licks can be played in every key, though, as no open strings are involved.

i remember times when taylorites would seem to insufferably post on every thread about how bad ronnie and keith were and how taylor should be brought back, possibly to replace ronnie, and that keith shouldn't even bother trying play a lot of stones songs anymore.

those days thankfully seem to be over. today i find myself appreciating the mick taylor topic as a tribute to the guy and a place to find out what is going on.

i hope there is a truce, is what i am saying!
