They didn't really start mixing up the setlists until the 40 Licks tour if I recall.
Can you imagine all the complaints by people attending with so few shows if they were filled with obscurities and few warhorses, not to mention the media reviews of the shows? If this is the last tour, that's certainly not how they want to bow out...

good question. the stones have been playing a variation called "beast of bottle" for the past couple decades. nobody knows why.
...Well, I turned to Justin and I said..."I guess Keith can still play the guitar". The only thing I was not impressed by was his lead to Sympathy.
I love this song and it just makes me sad and mad that Keith does that jazz noodling throughout whole song and doesn't bother to play that beautiful C#m barre chord. Last time it was heard.. mmm.. Leeds 1982 (?!)

It's really interesting to read about this debate, admiration and complaints and discussion who is a better guitar player! Hey, they are 70, they are playing for us, they are truely writing a new chapter of r'r history... Let's enjoy these wonderful shows and discuss the issues if you like in another thread! Who are we, honestly, to discuss with the stones issues about their performance. It's the stones 2013, and if you listen to these shows of last year, imo, thes are settimg new standards, also music-wise, e.g. their playing, the tempo etc.

Sounds like some people did not go to many shows in the "old" days. Fact is The Rolling Stones could do an entire tour with the very same set list. That happened. May be the memory is fading... The Rolling Stones are not known for hanging a lot. Keith likes it safe. Mick likes it safe but do try a few noew ones at times. The fans do expect JJF, BS, GS, SFTD etc. Simple as that. If I get Memory Motel and Lady Jane I would be happy, but I do love the Stones whenever and whatever they play.
They didn't really start mixing up the setlists until the 40 Licks tour if I recall.
Can you imagine all the complaints by people attending with so few shows if they were filled with obscurities and few warhorses, not to mention the media reviews of the shows? If this is the last tour, that's certainly not how they want to bow out...
