All these clips show the Stones rolling, fantastic, I really like Doom and Gloom. I did not expect things to work out so well. Watching these videos one knows why one became a Stones fan.

"Gimme Shelter" with Mary J Blige was perfect. Sorry Lisa, I have seen many guest artists but this one is probably one of the best. Please keep Mary J Blige in the set for all the shows! She wasn't shy at all. And she rocked! I think she was all over the stage, with Keith, With Ronnie, with Mick a lot, and her voice and interpretetion was so great for Gimme Shelter.

I agree with everything you say apart from this. GS started off great, hairs on the back of the neck stuff, and then it was ruined by MJB. Yes by all means let her sing parts that are normally Lisa's but no verses. This could have been one of the best versions ever.

What a sight this is, after all that lost time. Hope Taylor and Wyman will do some shows with them in 2013 as well.

From the Clash Music review:

"The return of ex-guitarist Mick Taylor - whose exit from the band in 1974 paved the way for Wood - proved the highlight of the whole gig. Always their best guitarist, and the player who contributed to the Stones' peak era of 1969 to 1972, his effortless weaving of 'Midnight Rambler' alongside Ronnie and Keith injected the song with an authentic bite of its original, and every bit as good as the scathing 'Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out' live 1969 version."

Damn. Someone, anyone, please post a video

It's amazing that Going Down saw the worst and best of the Stones: I'd rather listen to Chuck Leavell plinking away for 24 hours straight than to ever have to listen again to Jeff Beck screeching and squelching. But that Richards solo really was fantastic -his sound very fuzz like, biting and focussed, and the solo simple bursts of aggression. Great!

The show seems to have featured lots of videos and other visual effects that can hardly be custom made for five shows only.
Jagger may claim tix are expensive because all of this is used just a few times, but still I think the revenue on this investment will have to come from shows later 2013. I.e. that Tumbling Dice vid will be shown a lot more. winking smiley

By the way, were the lips blow up? Because the lips and curtain above it were gone after a few songs, in favour of a big cricle-like screen.

Hmm, Mary J sounds fine, just perhaps a little over the top - but the band sounds a little sloppy. It's a good pairing - let's see how they sound on Thursday.

I love the modern day "Vegas" Stones. The best!! Now look back at 81 compared to this!. What a joke!
