Wow. One post, followed by 14 pages of crap.

Mick has certainly set it up as the defining moment, so its no wonder that
a lot of people, like me, are on edge about it. Does he use it to define himself
at this juncture as more of a Stones guy, or more of an independent performer
(but still a Stones guy too)?

I think he's made his point already, that he COULD if he wanted right now in
the middle of the 50th thing make himself into MICK JAGGER! (also a
member of the rolling stones). That's what I wanted him to do, that's what
I thought would be the best and coolest thing for him to do.

I now think probably Mick does not agree.

He's made his point. He's scared the hell out of y'all and given me some really
fun times over the last year. But probably enough is enough. Its time probably
for him to start pleasing y'all and disappointing me. Which I suppose is
more than fair enough.

Even if the Stones do not appear together as a group, I now think its gonna
be a very Stonesy show. The real kick-off for the jubilee.

And I'm sure there will come a time when I will be able to share in your jubilation.
But not at the moment.

And please please please jubilate and don't nitpick. Mick J is re-joining
the Stones! He could have so easily not. He could have so easily
kept you hanging. Til June 2013, would've been my recommendation. But now,
the mini-tour could have even been moved up into 2012 again.
Hope so anyway.
Let's get this party started. And over with.

Cheers! (ya bastids)

Teddy's information usually does pan out. If only the Danny Saber sessions weren't so questionable to me. Because it's Teddy I accept it happened in 2002, but it just nags at me that the dates don't line up. Still, we don't always know their movements.

I've heard them Rocky. Nine songs including two that got reworked for the 40 Licks release. unfortunately I can't go any further discussing them.

Nine unreleased tracks ?

I don't doubt they exist, Teddy, I meant it would be easier for me to believe they were cut prior to 2002 (even in June 2001 when Saber did his session with Mick or in 1999 or 1997). There just didn't seem much time to slot them in before Don's session with them outside Paris.

Blink 182 sucks. Same crap as Green Day. Foo Fighters could potentially be tolerated, but I really hope Jagger has something better up his sleeves...

However, he did remark positively about them on camera recently.
He does. It's called The Rolling Stones.

there's four parts of howard stern on jimmy fallon with mick taylor
sitting in with fallon's band the roots. i just started to watch part one below.
howard's very first joke, speaking to the band: "that's very good, but let me
tell you something, you don't leave the rolling stones to play with the roots"
which got a laugh out of taylor. apparently howard roasts taylor a bit more
but i don't know where on the vids

so ya gotta figure at least taylor and the always entertaining ronnie are
gonna be part of the SNL thing

Addendum: The Mick Taylor comedy bits are mostly at the start of segments 1 & 3

"The Mick Taylor comedy bits". If anybody out there is wondering why I'm
suddenly so certain that that this SNL episode is all about the Stones,
the very existence of that phrase to describe an actual occurence in reality
is more than reason enough.

What's this with Mick re-joining the Stones? He never left, as far as I know...

OK, so I started a thread, innocently, pondering the possibility that Mick's SNL appearance will actually be a publicity stunt to announce a new tour AND IT'S BEEN DELETED!

Oooh, the plot thickens!

congratulations on starting a rumor with more than one life. its what all us

I beleive I floated the idea of an announcement last week with no intention of starting a rumour with legs but with a sincere desire that the Stones would tour.

You're welcome.

Musical guests do two songs

Song 1 with Mick Taylor on accoustic.

Song 2 introduced by Lorne Michaels-"Ladies and Gentlemen, The Rolling Stones.

Mick says, "Thank you, good night. We'll see you next year."

Others also proposed similar thoughts with different phrasing.

and here's the non-comedy bit that gives us a glimpse of what stones 2012
might will be like. SNL's Jimmy Fallon Band with the Rolling Stones' Mick
Taylor
, Can't you hear me knocking, the full song. Please don't judge Taylor
by the first four minutes. Instead just judge his playing from that point on and
what an asset he'll be on stage (with Ronnie's guidance) fitting in musically.

(Also am I the only one that thinks the bassist May 19 will be Don Was, and
that the bassist for the 2012 tour will be Bill Wyman except when he can't
be there when it will again be Don?)

You kids are gettin' your hopes up WAY too high...

That this show will at least confirm an upcoming Stones tour, even if
lacking specifics?

That this show will at least feature other Stones as musicians?
and comedians (especially Ronnie)?

I don't think those hopes are too high.

Sorry, I posted this SNL skit, this very sweet dream, on another thread.
But i really like it, so I'm posting it here and hope you like it too...

Keith: "Charlie, please, I promise, just do this last tour with us. Last tour,
please, last one. And then I'll never ask you again..."

Charlie: "But Keith, that's exactly what you told me the last time..."

Keith: *sheepish grin* "But that's because..."

Charlie: *cutting him off* "And the time before that too!"

Keith: "C'mon, man, please, I was, uh, under the influence those times. I didn't
know what I was saying..."

Charlie rolls his eyes.

Keith: "Really, man, I'm serious. You know my situation. Because of Jagger,
I got to take all these blood tests all the time. And they don't even give
me any new blood in exchange!"

*audience laughter*

Keith: "Here I am, almost as old as you, Charlie, and I have to suddenly learn
how to make my own blood! Have a heart. You know I'm as good as my word this
time, man. I mean, there is absolutely no way I can pay someone to take those
blood tests for me or switch the samples or anything like that..."

Keith rolls his eyes at the audience

Charlie, the sweetheart, the sap, finally gives in: "Okay, Keith, okay.
But I mean it this time! This is the last tour! This is it!'

Keith: "Absolutely! 100%! The last time. I promise, man."

The camera zooms in first on Charlie's happy contented face, and then on Keith's
crossed fingers behind his back, and then on Keith's devilishly happy face.

THE END.

The screen goes black.

Words appear.

The Rolling Stones Farewell Tour.

Details Coming Soon.

Cut back to Keith's devilishly grinning face.

Cut back to The Rolling Stones Farewell Tour

Watch as it gets slightly altered to...

The Rolling Stones "Farewell" Tour

Cut back to Keith's devilishly grinning face.

And fade....

Interesting idea super heavy, especially when you look at the cover version video from the band I believe will b playing with Mick.

They could use your idea and after this skit, keith (payback) could be used to set up, with mick waiting to start playing after the skit with them.

I can see the conversation from the studio last week,..

Mick: you'll intro us

Keith: what!?!

Mick: yeah, it'll be great. After the skit you'll just say, and now, mick jagger and _______ _______.

Keith: those guys are shit.

Mick: Theo likes them

Keith: why don't we just do the gig ourselves, why do you need to play with another band? You have a band.

Mick smiles, adjusts his package and walks away.

Keith: aaarrrgggh!
