I have never seen a music guest on tape on SNL... would'nt it kind of ruin the whole LIVE aspect?
btw- I think everyone here should applaud SCL for sacrifcing his hard earned money... that he is willing to pay $500.00 for the Stones to play that show for us... that is pretty fkg admirable...

OK, I'll clarify. Not everything on SNL is live. They have pre-taped commercials and digital shorts. It's possible that the stones will appear in some fashion, but not live per se.

Another possibility is that Foo Fighters and Arcade Fire will join the Stones onstage for a couple songs as an anniversary celebration for the show. Next week's rehearsals should reveal whether the rest of the Stones are present.
If Mick is playing Stones songs with those bands and no other Stones are present, I'd have to conclude that either the Stones rehearsals did not go well or Keith did not agree that the SNL gig was a good move (possibly because of the risk of the Stones being viewed Mick's back-up band if it's all about Mick as host). It does seem logical the Stones rehearsals were for SNL and that was why Mick was pissed off at Ronnie for opening his mouth to the press about the rehearsals.

The Stones are done, they were off the road during 5 years and back in 2006-2007 they were VERY BAD, it would be a disaster now. The rehearsals from last week were for the documentary, a couple of warhorses for the camera.
It's very clear that Mick didn't want to carry the whole circus again, he's a semi retired musician now.
The best we can get is a couple of big shows next year, a 15-song warhorse setlist and then goodbye.

We do not have any new information regarding the Stones playing SNL or not. Actually we never had any information...
And regarding the rehearsals in NY, maybe it was a test to see if they would be able to deliver a decent performance at SNL.

Who says Mick isn't announcing a tour with the FF and AF as main support acts to help sell tickets, with ALL THREE BANDS playing on SNL....

If I was a promoter putting up millions, I'd be requiring the use of that name to guarantee the money Mick certainly is negotiating.
I also wouldnt be surprised to see Aerosmith on some bills, or bands like that.

This thread has turned into something truly wonderful. I love it. So many wishes and expectations. So many people telling Mick Jagger what he should or should not do. How it will be the end of the Stones if Mick decides not to perform with the Stones. Some are already complaining about the songs that the Stones might play if they decide to perform etc. etc. etc.
I just have one question: Does anybody on this board know what is going to happen ?
