Leon Bridges is fantastic. I believe he was working in a kitchen in Dallas prior to making it 'big'. Very soulful, a total throw back to the Motown era w some James Brown thrown in but the guy writes great songs. the folks in Arnhem are in for a real treat.

I wrote the same thing about Leon Bridges. Yes, he's a great young talent!! His CD Coming Home is fantastic. A soul singer in the Otis Redding, Same Cooke tradition.

The Struts opened for The Who at the Quebec Summer Festival last July. Great band with a very charismatic and energetic singer with a powerful voice. He reminds me of Freddy Mercury and he has some of those ''Jagger moves''. Great 'British' sounding group. I really enjoyed their set.

I never knew John Lee Hooker had a musician son - interesting story here:

As I am living in Holland, I am very pleased with the Arnhem support act Leon Bridges.
For Amsterdam it's "The Staat" : sounds too experimental to me, and definitely for an elderly Stones public.

Why not a blues band, that's where the Stones came from.......

Or the Golden Earring ?

The Struts opened Paris 2014 for the Stones.
Was not really succesful, maybe they learned from that experience. Strange thing happened
at the end of their part: the sound was shut off in the middle of their last song and
roadies entered the stage to take the gear away. Apparently they exceeded their time slot.
That was a "Stonesy" thing to do, I think, not minding about the time slot.

I am curious how De Staat will be received by the audience in Amsterdam. Not really
the kind of music you'd expect to open for The Stones.

And Golden Earring as a support act? Come on! The Stones would not dare to follow them
to the stage.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

I didn't know De Staat but what I heard on YouTube is kind of cool. I agree that the Golden Earring would be great too. Then again, I sometimes wonder whether any band would really want to open up for the Stones. It's good for publicity, but the audience hardly cares about the opening act (there are exceptions of course, The Pretenders opening for the Stones in Barcelona did a great job).

That's standard procedure for support acts, unfortunately. I've experienced that myself, in a packed hall in Jena, Germany.

It's not fun smoking smiley

Yes indeed! Never heard the Rival Sons prior to seeing them open for Sabbath, and they blew me away. Kickass, no-frills rock'n'roll.

The Struts played TOO long and many were cheering when they finally cut the power. I found the whole act a bit ridiculous, like when the front man tried desperately hard to get all people on the pitch to sit down and follow his silly movements as if that is a fun thing to do when you're waiting for The Rolling Stones.

Today I couldn't care less about any support acts.

Back in the days I saw Ike and Tina Turner open for them. The next time I saw Buddy Guy open for them.
So I really can't discuss the above mentioned acts.

Golden Earring. Yes! Saw them open for The Who and they were great.

Los Zigarros- Barcelona. Stones' grandsons. But they use to play in very small clubs, even for 100 people or less.
