Hyde Park is a mediocre performance. If they're going to release anything from the era with Taylor, that should be bottom of the list from a musical perspective.

Your right mediocre performance, I still love the whole show, with some mixing it could sound nice to release

I don't think that's as much of a problem anymore as it used to be.

There was an interview with Jody Klein published in IORR around the time of the Ya Yas reissue where he stated that there's been a lot more co-operation between the two parties in the last few years than people realise.

There were three ABKCO era songs on both the 'Live in Texas' CD and seven on the 'Brussels affair' download release.

The entire 'Archives' venture would have been a non-starter had there been a problem with ABKCO as the Stones have never performed a public concert which didn't include pre-1971 material.

It would be stupid for Abkco not to co-operate with the Stones on the fort coming releases ...at least I think it would be stupid release best of with there 50th anniversary

I think calling the Hyde Park '69 performance "mediocre" is being extremely kind.

There isn't one. 'Over the next year' is all that's been confirmed publicly.

I know they were horribly out of tune, but were the tempos really that slow, or was that the tape speed of the boots I have heard? Always wondered about that.

You are right, Hyde Park was one of the weakest shows the Stones ever did. No rehearsing, guitars out of tune, vocals out of tune, failed cues. The only positive thing was that the brilliance of MT was on the horizon ... but even MT could not turn the bad show around.

They did rehearse for it.

"I'm Yours and I'm Hers" is brilliant. That enough makes Hyde Park worthwhile for me. I've always liked the epic-length "Sympathy For the Devil" with the percussionists and the attempt at live theater (if that's what you call Mick's would-be assassin with the assegai).

It's raw, ragged and far from perfect, which is why it is so ace! thumbs up

Just thought of a potential cool release for this series... I'd love it, If they still have em, for the un overdubbed recordings done by Glyn Johns during autumn 1966 UK tour to be released via the stonesarchive site.

I hope something from the jones era gets released.

I'm ready for the next concert download. They could do one a month, that would suit me.

If it is 6 concerts over the course of 1 year, you would / could figure one release every two months.

Sorry for intervening so late in this discussion, - but are there any 81/82 concerts involved in the speculations? Are there any confirmation on what six concerts we are talking about? A list maybe?

Re: Google Music to offer six unreleased Stones concerts

yes, the 81/82 shows are in the speculations. in fact, every show they've ever performed are in the speculations. even some of the beatles shows are in the speuclations....

All the speculation is on our own heads.

I think some of the tempo's were fairly slow. Some weren't. "Stray Cat" was done faster than the version we would hear on the '69 tour. I dunno what boots you would have listened to though.

I mean it's the Stones playing a live concert for the first time in 2 years. I know they had the NME thing in '68 and the Rock and Roll Circus but this is the first actual concert they had done since '67 and they were sloppy as hell. Taylor was playing his first show as a Stone. It's historical, sure. But there's probably hundreds, maybe thousands of Stones shows that were better from a musical standpoint. From the perspective of a musician, if I were Jagger or Richards, this would be one of a number of shows that I wouldn't want released, along with Los Angelos 7/11/75, several shows from '76, a handful from '78 and the Philly '81 shows, to name a few.

If they thought the Rock and Roll Circus was a sub-par performance, wonder what they think of the Hyde Park show?
