Google Music to offer six unreleased Stones concerts

Google Music Launch Unveils a Solid Competitor to Apple, Amazon, Spotify

"Google is putting a major emphasis on free and exclusive content. Google Music will offer six never before released concerts by the Rolling Stones, a 5-track live EP by Coldplay and the debut of the new studio album by Busta Rhymes. It's also offering live releases by Shakira, Pearl Jam and Dave Matthews Band.

Keith's Facebook and Website says Brussels '73 is to be officially released

Couldn't find a thread on this but just saw that there's a link on Keith's Facebook page that takes you to his website with a brief article announcing Google Music is officially releasing the Brussel's show. It goes on to say with a new mix overseen by the band (to what extent who knows) and that five (5!) more unreleased shows from the vaults are to be released exclusively through Google Music over the next year. It doesn't say what the shows are but I'm definitely excited about this.

Wow! Great news!
But to be honest I always secretly hoped they would have another great unknown 73 tape in their vaults as they recorded quite a few shows on that tour. And I assume the other shows are from other tours.
Btw. what's Google Music ?!

Forgot to mention that Google Music is currently only available to those living in the U.S. I'm sure it will be available in other countries soon. Either way, I'm gald they're releasing old shows from the vaults without overdubs.

Isn't it great in the clip on Keith's site, the way Keith is talking about Mick? Now that is the way I love to hear him talk about Jagger.
Talking about the fast tempos.

And Bill! Keith actually compliments Bill Wyman.

And then Jagger ending it with "Once you get out there it's all the same.."

And only $4.99 to purchase and download! They should have done this years ago. Better late than never. What a great surprise to enjoy while I wait for the new Some Girls songs and concert DVD next week.

Its US only at present.

From a BBC news feature today - I'd like to think that surely this will soon be available internationally :

Google unveils Android-based online music store

Google has launched an online music store in the US, which will allow devices running its Android software to buy, store and stream music.

EMI, Sony Music Entertainment, Universal and 23 independent labels are providing content to create a library of 13 million songs.

However, Warner Music Group has opted not to take part at this point.

The service poses a challenge to Apple's dominance of the sector. It launched its iTunes store in 2003.

The popularity of the iPod maker's mobile device helped drive sales.

Social network

However, a new study by the research firm Gartner suggests that more than half of all smartphones sold between July and September ran Android. That accounts for more than 60 million devices.

By comparison Apple's iOS handsets accounted for 15% of the market over the same period, according to the study.

Google is also integrating its new service with its Google+ social network.

Users will be able to share songs with their Circles contacts who can listen to the full length of the tracks without making a purchase.

Competition

Google is not the only tech company trying to make a splash in the music industry.

Blackberry launched its BBM Music service in the UK yesterday. The firm offers users 50 copy-protected tracks of their choice for £4.99 a month.

Members can also listen to their friends' selection. The service is also live in the US, Canada and Australia.

Nokia is pursuing a different model, offering owners of its new Lumia 800 Window Phone use of its Mix Radio app.

The software scans the users' music collections and builds a customised radio station from the firm's 15 million strong library.

Internet radio

Amazon already runs a cloud based music service.

The firm launched its new Kindle Fire tablet earlier this week which may drive further sales from the site.

Streaming subscription service Spotify is also expanding after launching in the US in July. It offers apps for Android, iOS and Windows Phone.

The other big player in the US is the internet radio service, Pandora, which tries to tailor its selection to each user's taste.

do you hear any difference to the bootleg version? i want to hear it but i'm living in germany :-(

Re: Keith's Facebook and Website says Brussels '73 is to be officially released

I hear the Bass more clearly; Taylor is up front, and the organ is cleaner. I got to say - the boots have been close to this.

After listening to the whole thing, it is a different mix; I am just amazed how good the boots have been though. The upgrade in quality on this official release is not staggering. (Which I thought it would be)
I am revising and revising - second runthrough with comparisons of boots. Am hearing actual material that is brand new.

It's hard to tell right now as I'm not at home and only listening through a laptop so the speakers aren't the best for judging. But so far it sounds like the boot leg but cleaner, as if it were an official release....which of course it is now!! Hope to listen to it on better speakers soon.

Mick Jagger says (on facebook) : "The Rolling Stones have released a new live album, "the Brussels Affair". Recorded at Forest National, Belgium, in October 1973, and frequently bootlegged, it is now available to fans in US from Google Music. International fans, stayed tuned for a further announcement."

Yes, I just encountered the same problem, although it was available before I finally was able to log in.
