Hi there hbwriter, been trekking around town taking photos and getting some strange looks but more of that later.
The Marquee Club itself has had a few different locations, but probably the most famous was when it resided at 100 Wardour Street (known at the time as the 'Wardour Street sweat box' due to its low ceiling which dripped with.....well, sweat!), it became a Terence Conran restaurant by the name of Mezzo. It is now a restaurant called Floridita
I remember going there when it was the Marquee to see Alexis Korner, featuring Charlie on drums and Bill on bass - a fine evening and yes, it was hot down there!

Didn't think I would find this one as the traditional phone boxes are disappearing fast in London and so to see 5 in a row is kinda unusual....

hbwriter.....hope you appreciate the 'jaunty angle' of my pciture!!

This is a Gold Star, too smiling smiley (Home to the Wall of Sound, Pet Sounds, etc.) (I know the Stones never worked here, but I wonder if they ever visited with Phil Spector)

On the HYSYMB fish-eye, I just noticed that Brian's suit has
pink pinstripes. In black-and-white photos, I thought it was white
(unless he had 2). And Keith's jacket is pretty cool, too,
that military jacket look coming in.

Hey, Hbwriter, do you have any more pictures of Monterey.
I took some years ago. I'm not that savy with posting phots, but I'll try.

One of the less glamorous locations......an underpass at Marble Arch, London.
Particularly 'unglamorous' now as it is no longer in use and has been bricked up and is accumulating rubbish.

Sure. They probably look just like mine: A rather small place
suited for horse shows with dirt and mud on the ground.
Funny, every time I've been there, the place is wide open, no gates or nothing.
And there's never anybody there (at least when I've went), so you can let your mind wander back that weekend.
I've also been to the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara,
where Hendrix and the YArdbirds played, and that's even smaller.
I think my backyard is bigger.

hbwriter:
BTW (I may have asked this before), do you know what's left of
RCA Los Angeles? Is it totally gone? Some type of recording complex?
An editing room for film students (as the building is a film school now)?
Was it gutted and made into a cafeteria? Parking Lot?
I now there were three studios there.
I also wondered, too, if it was in the basement or on the first floor
on the building itself.

And was the Regent Sound studio in the basement or ground floor?

Mathijs

Just found this...

According to a stones/regent sound article in recorder collector magazine from 2000, the basement is where the studio was. According to the article, the Helter Skelter book shop was the studio where the stones recorded.

I think it's a club or something now.
