According to Bill Wyman's book,
it's Pictoral Productions in Mt. Vernon, NY.

tk--right, that's what the studio facility was back in the 60's - they were unique in that they not only shot/developed all of the images for the political stuff in the 50s/60s, but also printed it all on site - a total one stop shop - they were kind of a big deal back then -

"Vari-Vue" was what they called their "3D" moving-picture technology -

here's a sample button

which then got us this

HB- I assume you took that photo.
Do you remember what those guys thought when you told them?
What kind of responses have you gotten over the years from people
when you take the "Now " photos?

T--actually a friend shot that one for a local paper--i was wandering around looking for clues

But I did tell them and as usual, it ended up turning into an intense, fantastic talk about music and history. That's what's usually happens when you shed light on a physical area by providing the history--people are blown away and they take it from there. In total (I've done a bunch of books modeled on this idea of locating unmarked places) I can tell you the reactions have been amazing over the years--whether i've been at the spot where James Dean last filled his Spyder with gas (explaining to the now-florist shop owner what history his place held) or standing where Babe Ruth hit his last home run at what's now an industrial site in Philly.

--in that "mother baby" shot - when i went to take it - a bunch of construction guys were actually sitting there having lunch--of all the places on the block! When I told them, one guy, the foreman said he'd been at an Ed Sullivan Show the Stones were on--you never know

HB- This is off-topic, but anyway.
IS the Columbia studio that Dylan used in NYC still a studio?
And is the Columbia Studio in NAshville still there?
When I was there, the Nashville one seemed more like an office for Sony.

That's funny...I use to be on that block 5 days a week for about two years. Sometimes walking in NYC, you see "something" but can't place why it rings a bell in your head.

Walk down 1 more block so you're between Lex and 3rd...is where Elvis recorded a few songs. Now it's Baruch College.

No, never got that far. I remember when my wife and I got married
in 2000, I remember seeing it was for sale. As a joke, I said we should buy it.
Now I'm sorry we didn't try.
BTW, I can't remeber now, but what studio in NYC was Music From Big Pink done in?
Was it the Capitol Studios there?

Although not in NYC, I think the biggest studio tragedy
is RCA Los Angeles. Why that was let go, I'll never know.
BTW, are there any good pictures of other artists besides the Stones
working there. I've never seen any real good shots of RCA LA.

What happened to A&R Studios in NYC?
And I wonder where The Rascals did their stuff?

We thought of the well-designed RCA building in LA as a classy place.
And a long number of hits by great artists were cut there, particularly in the sixties and seventies.
