it's funny, i started this an exercise to sort of bring their myth down in my head - these are just average, every day places, right? But the more I do it, for me, the more their myth grows.

follow me here, people - see that wall from the shot at left - the opening credits of The Andy Griffith Show? It's the same wall that extends behind Brian - and you can see it at the bottom of the "now" photo
TK--yeah, just north of the city up in Westchester county. The place where they shot was actually a production house famous for creating lenticular (layered image) buttons and things for politicians--so they shot lots of (then) cutting edge "3-D" images. They were literally the only place in the states at that point equipped to take that picture in the format required. It's no longer a studio but a restaurant supply place--but the structure is original and based on some michael cooper outtakes I looked at, based on that door in the back, this is the approximate site of the photo.
