The gig is from Kilburn Gaumont. Support was from pub rock act Chilli Willi and The Red Hot Peppers. I was there. They never played the Rainbow. It was Ronnie's first and only solo British gig until The Barbarians played Knebworth in 79 supporting Led Zeppelin.

I remember reading in an interview once that when he was recording This Year's Model he was 'pumping himself up' by listening to Aftermath and especially Stupid Girl. The same misogyny came across in tracks like This Year's Girl and No Action. In fact that whole album is pretty misogynistic. Elvis C never struck me as a Stones fan and i don't think he's ever done a S

I used to be a fan around the time of Like A Prayer right up to Ray Of Light but she really needs to take a leaf out of Joni Mitchell's book and mature as an artist. There's nothing worse than a 50-year-old mum trying to be a 20 something erotic showgirl. It just goes to show that without all her backroom production team there's not too much talent going on.

With you on that one Ado. I too saw her on Jools Holland and was knocked out but forgot her name. It can't be too long before she has an album out. Anyone worth watching on tonight's show?

No. But I have the 3 vinyl album box from the US 75 tour. The three albums were in red, white and blue to commemorate the US bi-centennial celebrations. Can't quite remember the title but one of the boots is called Who Went To Church This Sunday. Think it was from LA Forum.

Here's a link to Chris Wilson's website. Be warned, it's extremely psychedelic and may cause you to immediately put on Their Satanic Majesty's Request.

I just wish we'd started the season slow and ended on a high rather than the other way round. Can't help but think that Sven's bad buys in the transfer market - especially in January such as Benjani - led to this situation although there could be a U-turn from what has been suggested by Thaksin's son.

Wow, thanks Vihelm. I've just managed to get onto Dime so I'll look out for it although my credit is negative at the moment. Will let Chris know as he'll be really amazed to hear it.

QuotesweetcharmedlifeHere's a novel idea for Petey. Check out the current Bruce Springsteen tour for ideas for how a classic rock act should tour. Play EVERYTHING. Dig into your catalog. Play stuff you haven't played in years, play stuff youv'e never played live before. Play ANYTHING but We Don't Get Fooled Again. AGAIN! Great point SCL. And while we're at it let's

Sorry, I've arrived late on this thread. I'm a huge Groovies fan and first saw them at the legendary Roundhouse, London gig in July 76 supported by then, relatively unknown band The Ramones and The Stranglers. I always maintain that Slow Death is the best Stonesy song the Stones never wrote followed by the amazing Shake Some Action. Chris Wilson who was the lead singer during their gold

Will try to make that date Ade but as I've just become a father it'll be a little difficult. More likely is the 100 Club date. It's great being a dad but I'm having to carefully select my gigs and there's this lot to choose from - Robert Plant/Alison Krauss - Wembley, Bruce - Emirates Stadium, Driveby Truckers - Electric Ballroom, John Fogerty - Royal Albert Hall, Leonard

The general reaction in the UK was one of shock that the Stones had blanded out and lost their rock'n'roll edge. As far I can remember it was Cherry Oh Baby which did all the damage. There was a distinct anti-reggae feeling among many middle class rock fans which harkened back to it being the skinhead music of choice back in the late 60s and early 70s. And all this despite the arrival o

I heard that they have all been remastered and were due to come out last June 1 to mark the 40th anniversary of Sgt Pepper. Apparently they were pulled at the last minute to give greater publicity clout to the downloads. The next likely launch is 2012 - 50 years since Please Please Me which will give a greater financial return to EMI. All the albums will then all be released a la 80s on the 50t

Talking of funny names - it always make me laugh to read that Mick said he had to rescue Jerry Hall from marrying Bryan Ferry otherwise she'd have been known as Jerry Ferry.

Oh God. I was fearing this especially after the let down of two of the three 02 Arena shows. Coming on the back of the Live Licks CD and No Security plus the two 4 DVD sets it does seem a bit like milking it. I think the band need to take a long hard look at themselves to stop themselves from sliding into being the biggest cabaret act in the world. Now's the time to take more risks, ease of

If you're canny you can hunt down some brilliant bootlegs featuring his lost roughs and demos from the late 70s and 80s. There's also a CD of Voodoo Lounge outtakes featuring Keith obviously pretty out of it sitting playing some of his fave old tunes like Cocaine, I Get A Kick Out Of You, Please Please Me etc.

There's only three so not much choice. The 1st one Talk Is Cheap is universally regarded as his best and contains the stronger and more melodic songs. Main Offender, the second album, is more rhythmic and lacks a little of the polish of the debut. The live album is fun but I'd start with Talk Is Cheap. It was made at the time of his big falling out with Jagger and there's some poin

Mick Taylor might have been a more likely candidate but never Clapton. Where's that come from? Was it After Midnight?

Anybody ever seen the clip of him being interviewed by Richard Williams on the Old Grey Whistle test in 72. Absolutely hilarious. Williams asks him about the new found religious sentiments in his lyrics and Jerry Lee replies, 'sorry boy, I didn't hear you'. Williams repeats the question and a stony faced Jerry Lee cuts in 'I can't hear ya boy, what's that ya saying&#
