The big question about the Paris sessions must be ; was this a trial session to see if they could actually produce something together again or was it the final Stones session ? In the first case we should be very happy that they actually came up with 2 new songs, this is promising. Who knows ?

Here is a list of what I think are extremely beautiful ballads. Don't know why I made the list or why I'm posting it. Just bored of the other topics, I guess. So here they are (alphabetical order) : 1.750,000 anni fa ... L'amore? , Banco del Mutuo Soccorso 2.Ne me quitte pas, Jacques Brel 3.Here comes the flood , Peter Gabriel (original version) 4.Just a little bit of peace

QuoteCome On QuoteHis Majesty Quotebuffalo7478 If we are comparing their output from the 60s, the Beatles win, hands down. The Stones were the better band by the time the Beatles officially imploded....and we will never know what would have happened had the Beatles stayed together till 1974 or 75. If you look at Lennon and McCartney's 70s output, the music is nowhere in the vicinity of wha

QuoteHis Majesty Offensive? Don't be silly. Over at beatgearcavern, pretty much a Beatles focused version of this place, they often talk good about the stones. Interesting that, generally speaking, they prefer the Brian Jones era over the later Taylor and Wood era's. Definitely offensive, yes. Did you actually read his post? I have no problem with people talking positive abou

I always found "Imagine" utterly boring musically. "I am the walrus", on the other hand, I think is pretty cool.

Caravan is a typical album group and it's hard to pick out the best songs. The best albums are If I Could Do It Again,I'd Do It All Over You and In The Land Of Pink And Grey. If I should pick out songs, I would probably choose For Richard, Winter Wine and Nine Feet Underground. The same can be said about The Electric Prunes. Their most famous song is the hit I Had Too Much To Dream (

No.2 was the first Stones record I bought. So the very first Stones song I ever heard was the fantastic "Everybody Needs Somebody To Love" in all it's 5:03 glory! It's a shame the Americans were deprived of this great version. I don't know if this version was released on the remastered CDs. Has it ever been available in the US?

NOW! was released as album number 3 in the US, though. Yes. When I started buying records in the spring of 65 there were three Stones

I think I would start with the Definitive Collection if I were you. It includes some of their best stuff, like Big Black Dog which has some pretty good riffing and Live With Me which really builds up to its climax. If you prefer to go further from there, I don't think there is much quality difference between their first 6 albums As Safe as Yesterday Is/Town and country/Humble Pie/Rock on

Quoteloog droog So we can agree to disagree. I say the U.S. version is tighter and better sequenced. For me, an Aftermath without Out Of Time would be like a BB without Sympathy or a LIB without Gimme Shelter.

Quote71Tele QuoteStoneage To me the first real Stones album is Beggar's Banquet. I don't care much about the albums made before that (or after Tattoo You). Maybe it's an age thing, I don't know. In those days singles were the main thing and they made some great singles before 1968: Satisfaction, Play With Fire, Get Off My Cloud, Paint It Black, Ruby Tuesday, Let's Spend T

QuoteFather Ted I know how good most of the Stones albums are. The fact that some self-selecting does reflect my personal musical taste does not bother me one jot. It's only the insecure and terminally hip that need constant reinforcement of their own tastes. The rankings don't really bother me. But I'm confident enough about my own knowledge of music to say they're plainl
