On page 206 in "Life" Keith mentions that the Hollies song "Carrie Anne" was probably about the norwegian model Kari Anne Møller, who is pictured on the cover of the first Roxy Music album. She is now married to Chris Jagger. Or it could have been about Marianne Faithfull. So not only have the Jagger boys stolen 2 ladies from Bryan Ferry, they have also dated the two possib

What worried me a little bit was that he said something like "Mick has gone into hiding" after his book was released.

Absolutely. Their best LP "Spooky two" was produced by Jimmy Miller, of course. He was connected with the group from their beginning as the V.I.P.s and I think he is credited with composing some of their early work. I also love "Witness" and the first solo LP by Mike Harrison. A very good 2CD compilation was released last year, featuring two unreleased songs from their best pe

Quotestonescrow Just curious, do any of you ever get tired of listening to the Stones, or having discussions about them? Every once in a blue moon I have to take a break from them. I overdosed on "Beatles For Sale" sometime in late 64. Soon after that I discovered the Stones and found out I did not overdose so easily on them. But I had learnt my lesson so I never play anything 10 time

I agree completely. For me "The Rolling Stones" is way up there with the very best they ever did. Chartwise, at least in the UK, it is actually also their most sucessful album ever.

QuoteDoxa QuoteSleepy City QuoteBig Al A good mid-60's Jagger/Richards composition, though perhaps Bills backing vocals ruin it a little. Am I right in thinking that this dong didn't get an initial UK release? I know that Cliff Richard released a version. Yes you're right. I think it's first UK release was on 'Stone Aged' or whatever it was called, in the earl

QuoteLynd8 I always liked this one and I didn't think the other B-side from that Cd wasn't bad either - "If Things Could've been different" I agree completely! Add to this list "I'm ringing" and "Catch as catch can". Yep, Mick has some pretty cool b-sides.

To HelterSkelter : I'm not saying Oslo can compete with international metropoles like Paris, Venice, Prague, Lisbon and Vienna in terms of interesting historic buildings and general activities ,it is after all a small provincial city (1/2 million). My own personal favourites are Paris, Rome, San Francisco and Toronto. However, I do believe the geographic location of Oslo is uniqu

Agree with Addicted that you should avoid the Central Station. The upper half of Karl Johan is very nice and full of life, though. From there you can walk down to Aker Brygge in 5 minutes. Also recommended is lunch either at Frognerseteren or Ekebergrestauranten with breathtaking views of the city and the fjord. If you want to swim in the fjord you can go to Hovedøya by ferry as suggested

I could not disagree more! I have lots of outtakes - and apparently the best ones too from what I see other people think - but I never play them, they're just not sufficiently interesting. So ; I want the polished stuff! New vocals on an old riff with potential sounds just great! We should be eternally grateful to the Stones for bothering to finish these old recordings.

Another Aftermath thread without anyone mentioning that Out of time is one of the Stones' greatest achievements ever !? For someone who grew up with the original long version of the song it is. Chris Farlowe's cover version (produced by Mick) was a no. 1 in the UK, the only Stones cover to top the charts as far as I can remember.

QuotemartinwThere was a discussion on this a while back - the version on Rolled Gold is the usual Let It Bleed version. Whoever wrote the letter must have been dreaming... I doubt it. He says it runs 9:12 and describes it as a "bonus compared to the LIB version". I have now checked my YA-YA'S copy and there it is 9:05. My guess is that it is this version and that the writer is

I have been checking this some more on the internet. (I'll check my LPs when I get home!). According to Rate Your Music, the YA-YA'S/HOT ROCKS versions are 8.32/8.23, which is presumably the same version. But according to WIKIPEDIA (which has a whole page on Midnight Rambler!), the YA-YA'S version runs more than 9 minutes. This is all rather confusing, but I guess this could expl
