QuoteDandelionPowderman I won't define TSMR as a pop album. PIB and 19thNB aren't really pop as such. An important note: The Kinks played pop longer than the Stones did. That also makes them bigger in that segment. But you have several points, I give you that. Good. I love the Kinks, by the way, have all their LPs and every single f...ing single. I agree with including the B-sides, but there are two pretty good songs from GITD which you have left out ; Dancing In The Starlight and Too Far Gone. I would have kicked out Let's Make It Up and Joy or Hide Away. Anyway, I think GITD is actually pretty good as it is.

Quotebob r The White Album deserved its #1 spot-- you simply cannot find a better double album-- I hate it when people express themselves like that - as if they are stating some obvious fact. This is your opinion. I happen to have a totally different opinion. I do like the White Album, but it is not even in my top 20. However, I do not state this as a fact; it is just my opinion.

I find myself spinning the mid-seventies trilogy GHS-IORR-B&B a lot these days. Probably because I have played their earlier stuff so much. In my opinion GHS is very good though slightly below the big 4. Definitely a top 10, as is also The Rolling Stones and Aftermath (plus 3 more obviously).

Ride On Baby and Sittin' On A Fence were two songs the Stones gave away to Immediate artists without releasing them themselves (until much later). Ride On Baby was first released by Chris Farlowe, produced by Mick Jagger. It was the follow-up to the no. 1 single Out Of Time, but was not a big hit. It is a personal favourite of mine. Great song! Should have been a hit.

QuoteDoxa QuoteDandelionPowderman The good thing with the Stones was that they very rarely blueprinted what the Beatles already had done. One might say they did that with Satanic, but a closer listen reveals that the music (as so often was the case) was rawer and more extreme within the format than that of the Beatles. Satanic was way more psychelia-sounding as a whole album. Well put. I thi

I really like it. Could easily have been on an album. Calling it an 'outtake' is just plain wrong. It's an officially released song, clearly considered a finished product by the band.

Quotestonesrule How do you feel about the albums that have come since Hendrix death? I think that none of the posthumous Hendrix releases are up to the standard of the material he released when alive. This includes The Cry Of Love. In fact, I always wondered if Jimi's death was somehow connected to what looks to me as an artistic burnout.
