I couldn't be much happier with last night's show. I could always do with a 26 or 30 or 50 song setlist, but at just over 2 hours, I couldn't ask for more. Highlights for me: 1. Opening with Jumpin' Jack Flash instead of Start Me Up. This is the first of a few things that I wanted to be different than when I saw them in '89 and '05. The performance was fantastic.

I've always had a tough time declaring 1 band as my single favorite, or ranking them. After they called it quits, I conceded that R.E.M. is probably my all time favorite band. The Stones are on the list of favorites for sure, as are The Beatles and U2. I tend to be more into bands that are currently making music (that I like - e.g. U2's latest is pretty weak). I don't listen to

May daughters both go to UNC, but I love the poster, and I think we're all just gonna have to bite the bullet and buy the Wolfpack themed event t-shirts. Love this song vote, except it's torturing me. I've never heard any of these live (other than on DVD). Alcohol sales is sort of a combination of NC law and NCSU policy. They certainly sell beer at the Durham Bulls stadium, a

Quotesteffialicia Does anyone know if Carter Finley has the clear bag policy?? From the "gopack" link I posted a few days ago: Bags Ticket holders are encouraged not to bring any unnecessary bags or belongings into Carter-Finely Stadium. Bags larger than 14" x 14" and all backpacks are prohibited at Carter-Finley Stadium. Diaper bags are permitted only if accompa

I can't imagine it would be a problem to leave a car overnight, nor that y'all would be the only ones doing that. I checked the event page on "gopack.com" and I didn't say anything about prohibiting overnight parking.

I'd certainly prefer Sweet Virginia as I haven't seen that live, love it, and wife and daughters are from VA (I'm a South Carolina dude but lived in VA for well over half my life).

Yep, Blackhawks, I had considered the private school thing. That may well be how Duke was able to swing it.

Yep. Somehow the Dookies got a permit for a beer garden at Wallace Wade Stadium in 2005. My complements to Dook on that, a rare thing. I wonder how hard NC State Athletics really tried to get the permit? It's clearly possible to get one.

Carter-Finley released this information today, including confirmation that no alcohol will be sold at the show. I think they don't realize they make things worse drinking wise. I think people will drink more trying to pregame like a boss at the tailgates vs. if they'd let people buy beer inside.

Glad you pursued this (and will continue to do so through TM). Utter BS to sell top dollar seats without a full view of all performers. I think we'll be OK in Raleigh, but I'll be checking to ensure I can see Charlie's kit before the opener hits the stage. I mean his drum kit :-)

I quit smoking weed almost 30 years ago, but even when I did I generally enjoyed the shows I've seen without smoking than those where I did (applies to all bands, not just Stones). I like to get a nice little buzz going with beer, but I really don't understand the point of getting hammered. I want to remember the music and the experience, and, frankly, I can carry a post show music b

Gimme Shelter Tumbling Dice Miss You Honestly, it's a tough task to pick 3 from that list. As much as people bitch about the war horses (and I get it), it's sort of what I want from The Stones. I'm not that way about every band, in fact, most of the bands that I have seen 5 or 15 or however many times they tour it's all about the fact that I do expect the set list to be d

There MAY be some NC State folks with some sort of prearranged parking, but, if so, I've never noticed. Parking won't be a problem. I wouldn't try to pull up to the lots at 8:00 PM or anything, but you should be fine (there have been warnings about traffic, and there will be some, but just don't assume there will be none and everything should be OK). We parked right by the sta

'Tis to my chagrin that in my two shows thus far ('89 with a pretty nice, deep dive into the catalogue, and '05 with a shorter, war horse and ABB heavy set) GHS was not represented. I've given up hope for that (even the two hits, much less deeper).

If I can't see Charlie from our lower level seats near the stage, I am likely to complain to guest services as that is an obstructed view in my opinion

While tailgating, pre-gaming at a bar, in the car on the way to the show, etc? I have a policy that I've heard described by someone else as "keeping the songs fresh," and this applies to any band I go see. Some of my friends agree with me on this, but most don't, so I assume I'm just the oddball, and I'm certainly not going to begrudge all the fans tailgating around

Doubletree Brownstone is pretty far from Carter-Finley - close to 4 miles per Google Maps. Parking at the stadium won't be a problem. The football season ticket thing only applies to games. We parked right by the stadium for U2 and heard the sound check. Stones in 89 we were pretty close, too, but got their too late for sound check. You might try calling a cab company (google some) in advanc

Famous is relative. For example, I didn't see R.E.M.'s first gig at the church in Athens, and I didn't see The Replacements before Bob was, er, replaced by Slim, but all of these profiles grew, some significantly, after I first saw them. R.E.M. 1983 (quickly grew into my favorite band, and caught them every year they were on the road until they disbanded) The Replacements 1987

I would like to offer a balanced perspective on the traffic issues we had with U2 in 2009. I think/hope that was an anomaly. We saw the Stones at Carter-Finley in 1989, and there were no traffic issues. Yes, there was a line to exit off of I-40, but no worse than any other concert I've been to in an arena (much less a stadium), and we arrived about 90 minutes before show time. Local official
