o.k. exact quote "From the promo video and also the original Ron Wood home demo The Stones used...." Ssoul, I can see where saying "well documented" could be interpeted as being too much of a blanket statement so my bad choice of words. But everything I've ever heard/read is kinda in the same category without some source. Erik, did someone kick your dog today? Even if you

"tomk" included Don Rich of Buckaroos fame-thanks for putting him in!!! I'm ashamed to forget about that. And it opens the door for James Burton and loads others.

just offhand I suppose the source I consider most credible is "mickboy" of torn and frayed fame who refers to this as the original ron wood home demo that the stones used to build the song. It can be found in the extensive track notes that he provides with most of his releases.

it's been well documented that the video version is indeed the demo recorded during rons solo sessions. as stated earlier kenny jones was doing a take off on charlie and it was so good charlie elected to leave it alone. in my opinion the best sounding version of this is on mickboys "short and curlies" iorr remaster.

Always liked the video(demo) version better-seems more spontanious. Could this have been the reason it was chosen for the video? A more "live" feel?

speaking of hot rocks, I wonder why the "digitally remastered " later vinyl release used the "Time Is On My Side" from 12x5 and not the single version like the orignal. ruins the whole thing!

I always thought he played it capo at 7th fret in standard tuning. It looks this way also in the milano 70 film which was as close to 69 as I could get. but then I could be wrong about the tuning. My friends and I always play it this way.

all great points. when I first heard this thing I couldnt believe how awful the mix was bus the energy just flattened me. It nearly overloaded the senses! And I agree with all the statements about the few(but great quality) boots from this era. Any could have been released without any touch ups and been better. So once again WHAT IS THE HOLDUP? is it klein??? I thought he LOVED money!!!

if there is a rarities vol 2, I hope they actually include some rarities! most of the songs(other than 1 or 2) are as common and easy to find as Hot Rocks!

I agree. I think a lot of people misunderstood that I never called for replacing ron(who I always liked even before the stones especially in Jeff Becks original band and the faces when rod still rocked!), but to compliment the stones performances with the solos that he owns to this day. will this ever happen? probably not but the intent of the question was could it work.

when Mick T. is hot, he's hot. But then ain't they all. Charlie's the only one left that is 100% reliable musically. But when everyone is on it's still "the greatest rock n roll band in the world". As far as Daryll on bass. well he's a sideman. Not a stone-never will be a stone. And thats not taking away from his talent, but he's a hired gun and jobs end.

you could be right that people might perceive it as such, but would ron and the other stones really care? Since ron and mick t have been friends since before either was a stone, would ron feel this way?

Had to go to bed last night after posing this question and was very pleased to read all the opinions. I think an important part of the "line-up" would be the alternating bass and guitar duties. Then ron and mick wouldnt be running over each other. Or maybe I'm just wishing for a all stones(or former) group. And since the band straightened out ron maybe they could put the boot up mi
