184. Re: gnr
What's the only thing more predictable than Elmo Lewis turning a thread about a female musician into a "sizing up"? A thread about GNR turning into an Axl-bashing contest! What is the beef people have with this guy? He's got a great voice, he's written some great songs, and he can penguin-walk with the best of 'em. OK, I won't attempt to defend the ind

I love it too, GS. Probably the best latter-era version of TD out there. (nothing touches brussells affair more generally, however.)

Love this one - and definitely agree that it would smoke on the B stage. it's probably too short to give cindy c a chance to run to the bathroom, though!

I don't understand why a discussion of the MUSIC has to deteriorate into dime-store psycho-analysis of the fans. I'm 20 years old - and I'm perfectly capable of hearing a difference between 2006 and 1972. Simply put, there's a reason why I listen to Essen 1970 far more often than Sapporo 2006. (OK, yes, part of the reason is because I find it truly painful to hear Mick atte

i may be mistaken, but i thought the purpose of this thread was to discuss her rendition of tumbling dice. moreover, isn't it true that mick uses his sex appeal to sell the stones' music? yet when was the last time that a discussion of a stones song deteriorated into whether or not mick has "had too many tacos?" clearly, the only reason this happened was because she's

Glass Slide Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Interesting that you knock Memory Motel and love > Fool To Cry. why? FTC is a heart-wrenching soul ballad with GREAT vox from Mick and, i think, some really wonderful lyrics. (actually, the lyrics on most black and blue songs are quite good) MM, on the other hand, is unlistenable schmalz. Keith's

how about attempting a reasoned response to what i wrote instead of simply calling me a "Setlist Creature?" (whatever the hell that means.) at the very least, however, THANK YOU for not including yet another plexiglass "joke" in your latest posting. EDIT: just saw your edit. your sense of "humour" rears its ugly head again.

Here's the thing about Black and Blue: the Stones have never SOUNDED better on record. (the guitars, drums and vocals, really are excellent throughout). I think the mix is fantastic as well. However, the songwriting isn't good enough to do the playing/producing justice. I fear that the album ended up as a missed opportunity. There are, exceptions of course to the songwriting problem:

how depressingly predictable that a discussion of MUSIC deteriorates into a chauvinistic "sizing up" of a female artist. courtesy of Elmo Lewis, of course! (shockingly not SCL this time!) in any event, i think her TD is quite good. then again, i love the song so much that i'd probably even enjoy a version done by The Who!

I find interesting that no one - sorry, let's try micksbrain style - NO ONE has chosen ABB. i mean, the first new album in 7 years, (the biggest gap since they started recording!) and nobody sees is it as a true "comeback." speaks volumes about its lack of impact . . .
