It is that time of year again!

For those that celebrate, what are you doing this year, and how do you say Happy Carnival in your language? In Louisiana we say Happy Mardi Gras!

Is this the same carnival as in Brazil...?

Once I passed a Southern Netherland town and the whole community
was turned upside down; people on the streets, drunk at mid-day.

Not celebrated here, but on the other hand we eat meat several times a week ..

I hate carnival!
Here in Germany, most people take it as senseless "drinking and driving" and not as something with a cultural background.

I am in New Orleans, Mr. Bro! And, yes, we celebrate the same holiday as they do in Brazil. The party is going nonstop through Tuesday and the same description can be used here as that Netherlands town you talk about.

There are some small towns in south Louisiana where the men there celebrate by releasing a chicken in a large field, and then catching it, I think while riding horseback. I do not know what the significance of that is, but they seem to have a lot of fun with it.

Hey Drummer Dude, you know anything about that chicken-chasing ritual on Mardi Gras? What's it called, how they do it?

the young kids I think I don't know what it is called but when I played in my old band one of the guitarist from down here told me about the chase on Mardi Gras Day where he lives. They said it is fun, but it is when they catch you .

Anyone knows it?
we are almost at the end of the carnival this year here in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, yesterday was the Cuaresma, all widows crying because carnival is almost done, and the sardine is gonna be burned, last Monday night biggest night of carnival, around 250.000 people on the streets of Santa Cruz, and previous week end as well. Tomorrow and Saturday will be last days. People is always talking about drinking just some facts, the biggest parties in Spain where people consume and drink more alcohol during a celebration are here with long drinks and Pamplona, during San Fermin.

Today, at Carnival, know this woman is not too good but very nice too see masked in Carnival, Paulina Rubio, that barbie girl, mexican setting in L.A., and for those who like good music, Gilberto Gil, dont you remember his version of No Woman no cry?
So tonite here in Santa Cruz, the night will be long , long!! until 8 or 9am suppose as other days, and one day left, Saturday

Very Long, long, long week end amigo!!!
Music, fun and great nights over here in Tenerife, Saturday was amazing more than 300.000 people on the streets dancing, drinking and having fun. Tonite will post pictures from last weekend so you can imagine how was that night.
