stones songs that should be on a different album.

do you for some reason when listening to a stones track feel that the particular song could be on another album from the one it is on.

listening to "laugh i nearly died" from a bigger bang, im thinking this is a tattoo you out take.

rough justice could be from undercover.

theres others aswell.

Streets of Love should be on an album by another artist

I would go even further and like to see Streets Of Love and Jagger's Blue changing places. I honestly don't understand why Blue, a true masterpiece, remains hidden on a long-deleted Jagger solo single while at the same time the "awfu' bad" Streets Of Love is featured prominently on the Stones latest album.

Did you ever hear it live? I think it was brilliant.

Why?

You Got Me Rocking or I Go Wild should be on Bridges To Babylon so that there is more Stones-typical stuff...anyway, I like the mixtures on most of the albums. Except Dirty Work.

Absolutely right! There seemed to be a b-side problem in general. The same goes for The Storm and other (especially bluesy) pearls that would have been highlights for the albums.

"Jump On Top Of Me" would have been a good fit for side one of Tattoo You.

LOL. In fairness, the song did seem to take new life when performed live. Your post is hysterical, though.

Michael Bolton?
Celine?
David Hasselhoff?
Herman's Hermits?

Good point JHMick!
All the bluesy tunes are b-sides. Blue is good example and of course the four tracks from Voodoo Lounge. Too bad because with those songs they really stick to there roots. Instead, they choose the more commercial way...

Cheers,

Tattoo You SHOULD/COULD have sounded like a whole album of tracks that sounded like they belonged elsewhere. The success of it was mainly due to Bob Clearmountain. His mixing and update overdubs managed to turn it into a fresh sounding piece of work which one could believe had been recorded in the normal timescale of a new album.

Always thought that "Hide Your Love" somehow wandered off of "Exile" side 3 and settled down on "Goat's Head."

I liked it live - but as can be seen by Kent's reply some people take this shit way too serious for their own good.

I still stand by my original statement re: the original version

Tie You Up (the Pain of Love) and Baby Break It Down could fit in Exile.

If I remember right, "Slave" and "Worried about you" were left over from B & B
"Hang Fire" from ER."Tops" sounds like it was a Mick project possibly for a solo album.

Tops and Waiting on a Friend were recorded at the Goats Head Soup sessions.

Agreed. They should let Bob Clearmountain re-mix the entire album.

Not in the versions that existed in 1973 they wouldnt have. Quite a bit of overdubbing on those songs were done for Tattoo You

Mick Taylor is on lead guitar on that one. Jagger didnt do any solo albums in the 70s

Start Me Up - ER sessions, New York Nov'79
Hang Fire - ER sessions, Paris summer '79
Slave - B&B sessions, Rotterdam feb'75, Overdubs, New York spring 1981
T & A - ER sessions, Nassau Jan-Feb'79
Black limousine - ER sessions, Paris summer 1979
Neighbours - New song, Paris Nov.1980. Overdubs, New York, spring 1981
Worried about You - B&B sessions, Rotterdam '75. Vocal overdubs Paris summer '79
Tops - Basic track GHS sessions, Kingston, Nov-Dec'72. Overdubs New York late'79
Heaven - New song, Paris Nov. 1980
No Use In Crying - ER sessions, Paris summer '79
waiting on a Friend - Basic track, GHS sessions, Kingston Nov-Dec'72. Overdubs,New York spring 1981

Sonny Rollins' sax parts on Slave, Neighbours and WOAF werent added until 1981.
Some of the old tracks from the B&B sessions kept the original backing tracks, but just had some extra vocals and/or instrumentation added later on.
Mick Taylor plays guitar on Tops and WOAF (recorded in 1972). Wayne Perkins is on lead gtr on Worried About You (recorded in 1975). Billy Preston and Ollie Brown are on 'Slave'. Keith and Ronnie dont play on 'Heaven'. The guitars are by Mick and Bill (who also plays synth)

imo Hide Your Love is a GREAT song.

Awesome blues solo, great vocals/piano from Mick.

Dancing With Mr D...a little tougher to write the brief for that one.

Thanks Gazza for the details on the TY album.Didn't know Neighbors was the ONLY new song on TY. When I said Tops sounded like a Mick "project" I meant that it had the pop/soul sound we hear later on Mick solo albums.

Lady Jane should have been on Flowers and Come On definitely on The Newest Hitmakers...

Memo on Beggars and Symphaty on Bleed, Hitch Hike on No2 and Thumb on ABB...

Crazy Mama on Metamorphosis and so on....

"Dance Lil Sister" and "Jiving Sister Fanny" re interchabgeable.
Alwasy thoght that "Break the Spell" sounds a lot earlier. Like Sticky Fingers e g.
"Low Down" on IORR. Maybe on Side 2.
As good as "I am Waiting" is I think of it as from "Metamorphosis".
