I understand people feeling like it's a slap in the face but the OP is correct. My favorite band has told me that I must fork over an exorbitant amount of money to see them in "the usual barn", as Mick described arenas at the Passaic '78 show. If this was a club or theater, I might be tempted. But to expect me to spend enough money to buy a vacation, TV, guitar to see them n

QuoteKurt So, How much will the Pay Per View event cost? I'll be buying that ticket! Are you sure? I'll bet that's going to be overpriced also. I will download it for sure though.

The vocal intro really reminds me of "Travelin' Band". The riff reminds me of ZZ Top, as already posted. Yeah, we all hope for something fresh and another fix of that buzz they gave us back in the day, but I'm happy they're still playing. I love these guys.

Nicely played but a standard progression in the vein of "Takin' Care of Business" (BTO), "Rock n Roll" (Velvet Underground), and "Sympathy for the Devil" (forgot the band). At least they still rock.

I will not pay $500 just to "be in the building" with all the rich businessmen (who usually leave after an hour or so). In New York the scalpers rule so you can expect the usual "No tickets are available..." Ticketbastard message, 2 seconds after they go on sale. I paid $450 to see them from 3rd row side of stage at MSG last time and I have no regrets because I felt like I w

QuoteMore Hot Rocks Charlie picked him. Anybody gonna tell Charlie he's wrong? Nope. becasue he's right. Charlie is a jazz man at heart, hence Darryl. Bill was a Stone. Darryl, while most certainly a "musician", unfortunately will never be a "Stone".

Keith did very well at this venue and Pete is always a good chat. Might be worth checking out. As in the case with Keith, probably a tough ticket.

QuoteHis Majesty Quotekleermaker Great version of No Expectations. Love the intro and outro and that wonderful solo between 3:40 and 4:30. The intro is a mess and that so called solo is horrible! I painfully agree. I've watched all the clips and these two shows and I didn't see anything near the Mick Taylor we remember best. He's got soul and there are flashes of it, but not

Thanks very much for the response, hb! Hmmm...Vinny, Tal, Jeff and Mick? Formidable. I know others strongly disagree but for myself, that's a lot of talent Mick's got behind him. Let the old guy enjoy himself. Or just hang and wait and speculate and pray. All due respect, etc. Sorry the Stones aren't up for it for whatever reason but I know better than to write them off. Let

Quotehbwriter i know that Tal and Vinnie from Beck's band are playing on the show I don't dispute this, hb, but Jeff has stated that, while he respects them both, he has moved on. His bassist for the past few years has been Rhonda Smith. If Jeff is playing with his own band, that would be a crowded lineup for a 90 minute show. I thought Jeff would play with the other bands. If yo

QuoteGravityBoy Keith is officially a moron. I don't care how well he plays guitar or how "well-read" he is. He's a selfish dick and I don't think I would like him if he was in my circle. I say this as someone who in his youth idolised Keith. For me the story (in both Ronnie's and Keith's books) of Keith throwing Ronnie's son's parakeet out

Quote24FPS The interesting thing about Keith playing Bill's bass parts is when Bill would play those same bass parts on stage, they were as good, or better, than what Keith came up with. I often wonder what Bill's take on those songs would have sounded like in the studio. It was quite a mash up when they BOTH played bass on "Sympathy" in '75.

QuoteGravityBoy Sadly I came to the conclusion that Keith is a selfish prick though. His behaviour towards his band mates at times was reprehensible. Bill mentions it many times in an understated way, but you know it irritated him. 5 years playing and 20 years hanging around for KEITH mainly. Bill was behind the 8 ball from the get go. He was never treated as an equal and the fact that K

QuoteDiamondDog7 Finally... a good formation with Mick Taylor. * Bernard Purdie (drums) played with James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Larry Coryell, Hall & Oates, Galt MacDermot, Miles Davis and many more. * Max Middleton (keys) played with Jeff Beck and Mick Taylor for a while. * Wilbur Bascomb (bass) played with Jeff Beck during his JazzRock days. Good albums! Purdie played with Bas

I watched the '89 Atlantic City show last night and Bill was rock solid. He and Charlie are the quintessential rhythm section; super tight and amazingly they don't even make eye contact. I don't fault Bill for leaving but in doing so he deprived us of some great sounds. The Vegas Stones were much more palatable with Bill, in my opinion.
